How To Bake The Best Cake
### Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120ml) milk
- Pinch of salt
### Instructions:
1. **Preheat your oven** to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake
pan (or line it with parchment paper).
2. **Cream the butter and sugar**: In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or stand
mixer to beat the softened butter and sugar together until it’s light and fluffy. This
usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
3. **Add the eggs**: Crack the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
4. **Mix the dry ingredients**: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking
powder, and salt.
5. **Combine the wet and dry ingredients**: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the
wet ingredients in 2 or 3 additions, alternating with the milk. Start with a little bit of
dry, then some milk, and continue until everything is just mixed. Don’t overmix—this
will keep the cake light and fluffy.
6. **Pour the batter into the pan**: Spread the batter evenly in the prepared cake
pan.
7. **Bake**: Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes,
or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. **Cool the cake**: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out
onto a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.

### Tips:
- For an extra light texture, you can sift the flour before measuring.
- You can substitute buttermilk for regular milk for a slightly richer flavor.
- To test for doneness, gently press the top of the cake—if it springs back, it's done!
Once it’s cooled, you can frost it with your favorite icing or serve it as is. Enjoy!
