This lesson shows the American spelling of the word Practice.
Most other English-speaking countries spell it this way: Practise
Ways to Talk about Illnesses and Injuries (when used as a verb; Practice when used as a noun). Make it a
challenge for your students to find this word in the lesson and
Go over these expressions with your students. Tell them that they see if they know the alternate spelling.
can use these sentences in the Class Survey exercise on pages 8–9.
For pronunciation and intonation practice, you could have the
students repeat after you, followed by partner practice.

A. YOUR ILLNESS OR INJURY

Have students choose one illness or injury from the chart,

or cut out the boxes and hand one out to each student.
Have students fill in the correct illness or injury.

B. SURVEY

Have students complete the survey by talking to their classmates.

They should answer questions using the illness or injury they chose
in Part A. Students can ask, “You look sick. What’s the matter?” or
“Are you okay? What happened?”
