control required. The panel shall receive (415) volts, (3) Phase, (4) Wire, (50) Hz.
The panel door shall be provided with the pumping system start up, control and shutdown in accordance
with the requirements of the pumping system operation sequence. By means of selector switch the "OFF"
"Manual" and "Auto" selection of the primary and secondary pumps can be permitted. A running hour
meter shall be provided on the panel door to indicate the total running time for each pump.
The housing for the autosensory control panel shall conform to (IP 55) weather resistant type. Motor
starters shall be combination fusible disconnect switch, full voltage non-reversing, magnetic type
enclosed in the autosensory panel. Starters shall be horsepower rated for (415) volts, (3) Phase, (50) Hz.
for the type of motor used and shall conform to the standard and practice of (IEC), Industrial control

standards. The underwriters laboratory and standards for Industrial control equipment.
The Starters shall include overload relays I each phase with a common trip contactor activated by an
overload on any or all phases and a manual reset button. Motor fuses shall be delayed overload, quick
response short circuit protection type. Fuses shall have time current tripping characteristics required for
use in series with circuit breakers and shall be coordinated to operate in proper sequences. Motor starters
shall be equipped with lock-on timers to ensure that the motor's number of starting times/hour shall not
exceed the Motor's starting is controlled by an automatic change over relay to determine the sequence of
operation for each pump as a primary or secondary pump. The autosensory control panel shall include the
following automatic safety features.
a. The pumping system shall shut-down if the intake water level drops below a preset level. The safety
circuit shall energize a low intake level lamp mounted on the panel door. The safety circuit shall not
permit operation of the pumping system until the intake water is restored to the safe operating level. The
safety circuit is controlled by means of water level probes installed inside the water tank and signal
receiving relay mounted inside the control panel.
b. The Pumping system shall shut-down if the discharge pressure drops below a predetermined safe value
due to break or leakage in the system. A low discharge pressure indicator lamp, mounted on the panel
doors shall be lit by the safety circuit. Re-starting of the pumping system shall not be permitted until the
break or leakage have been stopped and the circuit has been manually reset. A manual over-ride switch for
this circuit shall permit operation of the pumping system at low pressure to fill the lines.
c. The pumping system shall shutdown when the discharge pressure exceeds a predetermined level. The
safety circuit shall lit a "high discharge pressure" indicator lamp mounted on the panel door. The circuit
shall not permit restarting of the pump system until the discharge pressure drops below the predetermined
value and the circuit has been manually reset. A manual override switch for this circuit shall enable the
operation of individual pumps for testing purpose.
The autosensory control panel should incorporate a frequency converter, and micro-processor controls
keeping up a constant pressure on the pumps discharge side at any demand within the specified range
through the continuous by variable adjustment of the speed of one of the system pumps, while the
remaining pumps in operation are running on mains operation, enabling the pumping unit performance to
meet the demanding consumption. Whereas in case friction loss compensation is set, the pressure will be
increased as the consumption rises. The control system must ensure the alteration of the starting sequence
of the pumps after each pumps stop. The starting sequence is automatically altered every 24 hours
regardless of the number of starting and stopping events, to ensure equal operating time for each
individual pump. The system must ensure daily starting of one standby pump for at least one minute. The
suction and discharge pressures of the pumping unit are registered by means of pressure transmitters and
transmitted to the control system, feeding it back with necessary information's about system demand and
ensuring a perfect dry-running protection for the pump motor. In case of any dropping below

a pre-set value of the inlet pressure for a predetermined time value the pumps should immediately be
stopped. And when the inlet pressure is restored the pumps should AUTOMATICALLY be restarted.
The housing for the autosensory and control panel shall conform to IP 55 weather resistant type. Electrical
equipment such as relays, fuses, contactors, and related components shall be housed inside the enclosure.
Indicator lamps, selector switches, manual reset actuators, and related components shall be mounted on
the housing door. All components mounted on the door shall be identified by proper identification plates
permanently affixed to the door. Autosensory and control equipment shall be assembled from readily
available standard components which shall be approved by the "Engineer".
All equipment and wiring within the panel shall be placed and mounted in n orderly manner so as to allow
easy access and maintenance. The panel shall be completely wired up to the terminals for connection of
external cables. Each component, wire and terminal shall be properly identified by ferrules, labels, or
tags. The identification numbering shall be indicated in the panel drawing to be placed inside the door.
Panel drawings showing construction and wiring details shall be submitted for approval motor starters
shall be combination fusible disconnect switch, full voltage, non-reversing, Magnetic type enclosed in the
autosensory panel. Starters shall be horsepower rated for 415 volts, 3 phase, 50 hz for the type of motor
used, and shall conform to the standards and practices of (IEC). The starters shall include overload relays
in each phase with a common trip contact activated by an overload on any or all phases, and a manual
reset button. All fuses shall be high rupturing capacity and link type. Motor fuses shall be delayed
overload, quick response short circuit protection type. Fuses shall have time-current tripping
characteristics required for use in series with circuit breakers, and shall be coordinated to operate in
proper sequence. All control panel components shall be rated for and ambient temperature of 55 degrees
centigrade and relative humidity reaching 100%, and severe climatic conditions, including sand storms
etc.
The operation of the pumping system assembly shall be based on pressure and flow demand. The Jockey
pump shall maintain the system pressure and to satisfy low water demands. With increased flow demand,
the Duty pump will be activated by a limit switch assembly associated with the automatic control valve
that is set at a particular pressure setting and flow rate. As the flow demand increases, consequently the
system pressure drops, therefore the second duty pump (stand by) will be activated to cover the demand.
When flow demand decreases, the pumps shall cut operation one by one because of the pre-set pressure
cut-out setting. To protect the pumps from rapid pump cycling and frequent starting and stopping, each
pump in the booster set should have an adjustable delay timer attached in the control panel. The purpose
of the timer is to make the pump run for a certain period after cut-out pressure been reached and the
pressure limit switch has cut the pump.
As the water demand increases once again, the duty pumps shall re-activate in reverse sequence while the
jockey pump maintaining the system pressure. The selection of the operation mode is achieved
automatically by means of a changeover relay built in the control panel.
