INTRODUCTION

Hebrews chapter 1 verse 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;
therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above
thy fellows.

The Scripture says, “Thou lovest righteousness and hateth wickedness,” that is why
the Lord your God has promoted you above your fellows. If a church loves
righteousness and hates wickedness, that church will be promoted by God. If a
pastor loves righteousness and hates wickedness in practice, that pastor will be
promoted by God. If a church member or a Christian loves righteousness, practically
performs it, and hates iniquity, that person will be promoted by God.

We are in the time that God wants to make people holy and filled with love for
righteousness, having put iniquity to death in their lives. Make this a prayer point
and ask the Lord to do it in your life. When God brought forth the children of Israel
from Egypt, they crossed two great waters, the Red sea and the Jordan River. By
scripture we have understood that going to the Promised Land, heaven requires
salvation and sanctification. May the Lord make this a reality for all His children
and cause them to understand the

explanation. May the Lord also pour down hunger and thirst for righteousness upon
their lives in Jesus name.
CHAPTER ONE

WHAT GOD DESIRES FROM THE HEART OF MAN

Matthew chapter 5 verse 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

1.1 THE HEART OF MAN

Sanctification has to do with the heart. The Bible teaches that when you make the
heart clean, the mouth will be clean also. The heart is the seat of life and thoughts
and from the heart proceeds good and evil thoughts.

Matthew chapter 12 verses 33 to 35.

33. “Either make the tree good and his fruit good or else make the tree
corrupt and his fruit corrupt, for the tree is known by his fruit.
34. O generation of vipers, how can ye being evil speak good things? For out
of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good
things and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”

The heart controls you. The mouth does not speak of itself but what the heart
supplies. The members of the body do not work by themselves but are directed by
the heart. If you want the whole body to be controlled and directed properly, give
your heart to the Lord. This is why God says “My Son, give me your heart”.

Proverbs chapter 23 verse 26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes
observe my ways.
“If you give me your hand, your hand does not control the whole body, it can only
touch some parts and not all parts of the body”. If I say, “Give me your eyes, your
eyes cannot see everything in your life”. “Give me your heart,” it is the seat of man.
It is the headquarters of man. It is from the heart that the blood is pumped to all parts
of the body. The heart directs the other members of the body to do evil or to do good
works.

Romans 6 verse 12 to 13
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the
lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but
yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your
members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

It is the heart that controls all actions, what you do and what you should not do,
what you should take and what you should not take; whether you should love God
or not love Him, is from the heart. God is giving attention to your heart to make that
heart clean and holy. If that happens, the righteousness and holiness He is looking
for from you will be possible.

Ezekiel 36 verse 25 to 27
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your
filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I
will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of
flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and
ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

1.2 GOD DEMANDS A CLEAN HEART FROM THE SINNER

God demands the heart of a sinner. He told the sinner, “Give Me your heart”. What
for? “I want to save it from sin”. There are things you do, evil places you go and
evil activities you engage in. Come for your heart cleansing. “Give Me your heart
to break the power of those things. You will not find yourself doing them anymore.”
That is what He tells the sinner. “Give Me your heart, and I will break the power of
sin in your heart. You will not find yourself committing fornication, adultery,
drunkenness, lying and other sins again. You will not do that anymore because “If
any man is in Christ, he is a new creature.”

2 Corinthians 5 verse 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:

old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1.3 GOD DESIRES A SECOND TOUCH OF THE BELIEVER’S HEART

John chapter 10 verse 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.
John 8 verse 32 and 36
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
First John chapter 1 verse 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God comes again to the believer and says “Give Me your heart.” You are following
God already, but have you noticed that there are some inner tensions in you? Have
you noticed that although, the work of salvation has been done in you, you have not
seen the perfection as it should be? There are still some struggles within you. You
struggle, you pray, yet you experience some forces within you and once in a while
they overcome you. You see in some degree, not in the sense it works in sinners,
this scripture fulfilling in you:

Romans chapter 7 verses 22 to 23

22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and
bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

This scripture agrees with the state of your heart because the adamic nature, inbred
sin or inner depravity pulls on your heart but it is cleansed at Sanctification.
God does things line upon line, precept upon precept. He did the first one, you do
not commit adultery, or steal anymore. There is something that needs to be done in
that heart again and that is called SANCTIFICATION.

Jesus specially called the twelve (12) disciples to Himself and they walked with
Him for three and half years on earth. There were multitudes of women and men
who were not among the twelve, but were disciples of Jesus. They heard His words
and were obedient to the word. He prayed to the Father concerning them.

John chapter 17 verse 4 to 20

HEART
“4. I have glorified thee on the Earth, I have finished the work which thou
gavest me to do
5. And now, O father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which
I had with thee before the world was.
6.I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the
world, thine they were and thou gavest them me and they have kept thy word.
7. Now, they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of
thee.
8. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me and they have
received them and have known surely that I came out from thee and they have
believed that thou didst send me.
9. I pray for them, I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given
me, for they are thine.
10. And all mine are thine and thine are mine and I am glorified in them
11. And now, I am no more in the world, but these are in the world and I come
to thee. Holy father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast
given me that they may be one as we are.”
12. while I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that
thou gavest me I have kept and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition
that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13. and now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the word, that they
might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they
are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou
shouldest keep them from the evil.
16. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth
18. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the
world
19. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified
through the truth.
20. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me
through their word.

Can you see that as the Lord prayed for these people He said clearly, “They have
received Your word. They are not of the world. They have believed in You and
believed in Me.” As for being born again, they are born again. They were saved.
Their sins were forgiven. They were reconciled with God and were children of God.
Can you see that God requested their hearts now, not from sinners again, but from
believers? He requested for their hearts in this experience which Jesus described in
verse 17. The
8
9

HEART
people have received His words and have been changed. They were no more of the
world.

John chapter 17 verse 16 to 17

16 They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth.

These people were born again, and were already following Jesus for some years but
needed an experience of grace to make them better and holy Christians, fully
victorious over sin. What was needed is called Sanctification. Jesus prayed this
prayer for you, if you are a believer in Christ.

John 17: 20 “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe
on me through their word.”

That means therefore that to believe in Christ and be born again is different from to
be sanctified. This is very clear. Everybody who believes in Christ needs
Sanctification, which is a second package that goes along with salvation. It improves
the saved man and lifts him to a higher position of holiness.
John chapter 17 verses 18 to 19
18 “As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the
world,”
19. And for their sakes, I sanctify myself that they also might be sanctified
through the truth.”
Here is the definition, explanation and interpretation of what Jesus was praying for
the present and future disciples. You can see, the same word was referred to by Jesus
as He prayed, “Sanctify them because they were not yet sanctified. I sanctified
Myself for the purpose of their sanctification.”

CHAPTER TWO
2. WHAT IS SANCTIFICATION?
The word Sanctification is a word that has two meanings and two definitions.
1. The Jesus kind of sanctification
2. The sanctification prayed for by Jesus for all the believers.

2.1 THE JESUS KIND OF SANCTIFICATION - CONSECRATION

Jesus said, “For their sakes, I sanctified Myself”. That means I consecrated Myself
and I dedicated Myself to God for the purpose of making believers sanctified. Jesus
had no sin to be cleansed from.

Hebrews chapter 7 verses 25 to 27

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by
him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate
from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his
own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up
himself.

Definitely, the sanctification that Jesus prayed for the brethren is not just dedication,
because they were already dedicated. They were already dedicated in the sense that,
they have left their houses and were following him, completely dedicated or
consecrated to God.

The Jesus kind of sanctification is implied when He said, “For their sakes, I
sanctify Myself,” meaning I dedicate Myself to God for God’s use and for God’s
honour.” In that case, therefore, both Jesus and all that believe in Christ Jesus are
consecrated, dedicated and sanctified. They are set aside. He had said about them,
“They are not of the world, they are not sinners in the world but they are Your
own. I dedicated myself for their sanctification.”

2.2 THE SECOND MEANING OF SANCTIFICATION - PURIFICATION

This was yet to happen to the disciples when Jesus said “sanctify them through thy
truth”. Sanctification in this sense means the purification of a believer from the
remains of sin to make him Holy, clean, pure and undefiled within.
Ephesians 5 verses 25 to 27
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave
himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
12
13

HEART
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish..

This second meaning of sanctification is an experience of faith. It comes through

trusting Jesus, asking Jesus and believing in Jesus. The sinner came through trusting
Jesus for forgiveness of sin, the believers also should come back to Jesus through
trusting and believing him for sanctification of heart.

Acts chapter 26 verse 18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to
light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of
sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us
wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

2.3 WHY SANCTIFICATION?

There are two types of sins namely:

1. Sinful nature
2. Sinful actions, Sinful works or sinful activities
The sinful nature is also called inherited sin, inner corruption or pollution.
The sinful nature came about because you are a child of Adam. Since Adam sinned,
his children became sinners automatically. By that, sin entered into the world, for
all have sinned and have come short of the glory of God. All have sinned because
of the sin of Adam. The Psalmist said, “In sin did my mother conceive me. I was
shapen in iniquity.” This means, I have a sinful body.

Now, having inherited a sinful body, the man automatically commits sin. A man has
the license to operate beer parlour and alcoholic houses. He has the license and he
opened twelve of them in twelve places. Remember, there are two things here: (1)
the license (2) the actual acts because of the license, going about to open beer
parlours. The same is also reflected in human life
1. The body of sin (the nature of sin)
2. The sinful actions, works or activities done because one has the body of sin.
Romans 5 verse 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

You have the inherited body of sin. Then you went to commit sin. As for the license,
you cannot see it or count how many things are there in the license. But going by
practical works, you can count how many hotels, alcoholic places and beer parlours
that have been established. This means he has done several things with the license.
These are like sinful works. You are responsible for those sinful works.

When Jesus forgives you as a sinner, he forgives your sinful works. If the
government wants to fight you, they may not fight you for your license, but they
will fight you for all those places you opened, that is the beer parlours and the hotels.
They will destroy all of them, but the license is still in your hands.
CHAPTER THREE

3. WHAT SALVATION OFFERS

3.1 SINFUL WORKS ARE DESTROYED AT SALVATION

In the same way, at salvation, God deals with sinful works.

Luke chapter 7 verses 36 to 48

36.“And one of the Pharisees desired Him that he would eat with him. And he
went into the Pharisee’s house and sat down to meat.
37. And behold, a woman in the city which was a sinner when she knew that
Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house brought an alabaster box of
ointment.
38. And stood at his feet behind (Him) weeping, and began to wash His feet
with tears and did wipe (them) with the hairs of her head and kissed His feet
and anointed them with the ointment.
39. Now, when the Pharisee which had bidded Him saw it he spake within
himself saying. This man, if He were a prophet would have known who and
what manner of woman (this is) that toucheth Him, for she is a sinner.
40. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto
thee, and he said
16
17

HEART
master, say on.
41. There was a certain creditor which had two debtors, the one owed five
hundred pence and the other fifty.
42. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me
therefore, which of them will love him most?
43. Simon answered and said, I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And
He said unto him, thou has rightly judged.
44. And He turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, seest thou this woman?
I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet, but she hath
washed my feet with tears and wipe them with the hairs of her head.
45. Thou gavest Me no kiss, but this woman, since the time I came in hath not
ceased to kiss my feet.
46. My head with oil thou didst not anoint, but this woman hath anointed my
feet with ointment.
47. Wherefore, I say unto thee, her sins which are many are forgiven, for she
loved much but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48. And He said unto her, thy sins are forgiven.

That woman’s sinfulness was so much that fellow sinners labeled her as a sinner
that should not come to a holy place. Her sins are so many that you cannot count
them: She was an alcoholic, a witch, immoral, sleeping with men every day. In fact,
she slept with women too, was abusive and a liar. She had so many sins. And Jesus
said, “Your sins which are many are forgiven you.” The record of those sins was
blotted out.

Her sins were higher than the mountains, if they were to be piled up. What this
woman received from Jesus is called salvation, forgiveness of sins, born again,
reconciliation with God, regeneration and adoption.

What this woman received was not Sanctification. This is what you should
understand. This is what all the disciples of Jesus had not received yet. He was still
praying for them to be sanctified. Sanctification is a separate experience from
salvation.

John 8 verses 3 to 9
3. “And the scribes and the Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in
adultery and when they had set her in the midst.
4. They say unto Him master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very
act.
5. Now, Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned, but
what sayest thou?
6. This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him. But
Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground as though He
had heard them not.
7. So, when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself and said unto
them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her”
8. And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9. And they which heard it being convicted by their own conscience went out
one by one beginning at the eldest even unto the last and Jesus was left alone
and the woman standing in the midst”.

He that is without sin among you, who had never spoken a lie, never gone into evil
anger, never backbitten, and never committed adultery. He should be the first to cast
stone at her.

3.2 YOU ARE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WILLFUL SINS

The things you do convict you and disturb you. You are responsible for them. You
acted them out by your will power. You exercise your will power wrongly to do
evil, even to speak evil, even to abuse God.

A woman once called me and said, I am having blasphemous thoughts in me against

God. I do not know what to do. These thoughts keep coming. What should I do? I
said, “Those thoughts are not coming from you, but from Satan. God does not count
them as sins against you because you have not accepted them”. They are like
mosquitoes disturbing you. You must make up your mind to destroy that mosquito.
You are not guilty because those thoughts are not from you. Satan only wants you
to accept them.
If you start accepting and liking them, then sin comes in because you are using your
will power. If you use your will power willingly to commit immorality, you are a
sinner and you are responsible for your action. That is why guilt came on this people
in the above passage. They became guilty and all of them left.

“When Jesus had lifted up Himself and saw none but the woman He said unto
her, woman where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She
said, no man Lord. And Jesus said unto her, neither do I condemn thee, go and
sin no more.”

This is impartation of power of righteousness which is also an evidence of

forgiveness of sins, of born again and of reconciliation with God. But it is not
Sanctification. “Go, and sin no more,” you have received power not to do those
things again. Yet this experience is not Sanctification but salvation.
Note that there are two types of sins. This one is actual sins which she was
responsible for. It is also called “committed sins.”

Psalm 51 verse 1 “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness,
according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.”

This means the transgressions are many. One of the transgressions was the immoral
act David committed. Another of the transgression was that he sent to kill Uriah.
These are actual sins and he is asking God for forgiveness not sanctification.
The sinner and the backslider come to God for forgiveness. Sanctification comes
after you have been forgiven and have become a believer. It is then you take your
heart back to God for sanctification.

Psalm 51 verses 2 to 4
2 Wash me throughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only have I sinned, and done evil in thy sight, that thou
mightest be justified when thou speakest be clear when thou judgest.
3.3 SANCTIFICATION COMES AFTER SALVATION
David goes further to tell us the second kind of sin. This one needs sanctification.
“Lord, I backslid and sinned, restore me again. Forgive me Lord, purge me
again.” He has gone further to ask for sanctification. In verse 5, he introduced the
second kind of sin.
Psalm 51 verse 5 “Behold I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother
conceived me.”

This means that right in the womb I was a sinner, for all have sinned. We were born
in sin. The child is polluted right from the womb because he is a son of Adam. He
inherited it from Adam. The blood is already contaminated with sin, such that when
the child grows up, he commits the actual sin. He starts manifesting sinful nature
which is inherited as a child of Adam.

As a child, he has not committed any actual sin, and is therefore not accountable.
Hence if a child dies, he goes to Paradise because he has not committed any sin
known to him. His conscience does not register anything at that age. After a period
as he grows up, he starts feeling guilt for wrongdoing. At that time he is accountable.
If you know what you are not supposed to do and you do it, then you are accountable
for it.

James 4 verse 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to
him it is sin.

David mentioned these sins. This was the same thing Jesus prayed for His disciples
even after His disciples have been with Him for three and half years. He said they
were no more of the world because they had received the word of God. He asked
22
23

HEART
God to sanctify them because of this adamic nature in them which David made
reference to, that gives rise to sin, actual or committed sin. In salvation, you are
empowered not to commit sin, but the inner pollution still remains. You can fall and
wonder what happened to you. There is an inner tension within which is also called
the body of sin.

Psalm 51 verse 6 “Behold thou desirest truth in the inward parts; and in the
hidden part thou shall make me to know wisdom.”

Thou desirest truth right inside. You want to see through. You want transparency,
and You want total freedom inside and this inbred sin in man is a pollution that
must be taken away.
Psalm 51 verse 7 “Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean, wash me and I
shall be whiter than snow.”

This is SANCTIFICATION. He has been asking for forgiveness. He went further

to ask for sanctification since this inbred sin has been troubling him. He may not
see any sin in himself apparently, but once in a while, it breaks through and over
comes him. This was the subject of Jesus’ prayer for His disciples. Sanctify them
through Thy truth. Pass Your word in a miraculous experience through their hearts
that there should be a natural conformity to righteousness within.
Righteousness and Holiness should be seated inside them. Do it for My disciples
and everybody that shall believe in Me through their preaching.
Salvation does in a sinner what initial washing does to a dirty cloth.
Sanctification does to a believer what rinsing does to a washed cloth.
24
25

HEART

CHAPTER FOUR

4.1 MANIFESTATION OF INBRED SIN IN BELIEVERS

First Corinthians 3 verse 1, 3 and 4

1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal,
even as unto babes in Christ.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and
divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not
carnal?

It is commonly known of believers that after salvation experience the heart still
shows up some filth, revealed by time and circumstances. You may not notice filth
immediately you are born again, because of the joy and happiness accompanying
salvation. But with time, as you remain a Christian you will begin to have some
tensions and feelings that you do not actually approve of. This is the manifestation
of inherited or inbred sin. These are not actual sins of fornication, drunkenness and
others which you no longer commit. This one deals with the heart. That is why God
said “My son, give Me your heart. I want to make it righteous. I want to do another
operation on the heart that will make it whiter than snow.” God says so because
even among the disciples of Jesus, He observed a lifestyle that showed filth and dirt.

Luke chapter 22 verse 24 “and there was also a strife among them, which of
them should be accounted the greatest.”

Can you see self seeking? The self is not dead. They were children of God but self
seeking and self promotion were manifested in them. They were not thinking of
how to glorify God only. Holiness had not been achieved completely in their lives,
because there was still fleshly struggle. Although they may not act openly to avoid
embarrassment, within them there was a struggle on who is better than the other.
There is a desire to make self known. God makes a man known, but you want to
make yourself known. You want to announce your good works. You want people
to know that you are different, carrying different anointing. Everybody should
know everywhere that you are special.

This shows that Holiness is not complete. This manifests in those who still have
the remains of sin, adamic nature or inward pollution in them. Is this what God
wants in your life? It is not in a man to show forth his glory. Let another man praise
you and not yourself. The urge is disturbing you inside and before you know, it
manifests. The inside
26
27

HEART
tension is the adamic nature which needs a second process for removal and
cleansing.

“My son bring your heart again, let Me give it a second touch to make it gentle
and settle down so that you will be dead to self and seek only the glory of the
Lord. You will seek only what pleases God.” Jesus Christ said; “I seek not My
own glory, but the glory of Him that has sent Me.”

Allow God to bring you to the state that you will not be seeking your own glory.
When you seek self glory, it shows dirt is still in your life, you are not yet clean.
Sanctification is required to grant that cleanliness and make holiness easy, peaceful
and your life bright before men.

Matthew 5 verse 16
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father which is in heaven.

James and John went to Jesus and requested to sit at His left and right hand side in
glory. What about the other people? They were looking for gain. What was
prompting this gain? But truly they were children of God. This gain seeking spirit
is the Adamic nature. The sinful nature that has to be dealt with to arrive at holiness
of life.

Jesus was to pass through a particular city and the people did not allow Jesus to
pass through their city. James and John said, “Allow us to command fire from
heaven now upon them so they will learn their lesson.” Can you see that type of
anger? It is uncontrollable and unreasonable. You have slipped off from the path
of normalcy. Jesus said, “You do not know what spirit you are of.” That is why
He prayed for them that God should sanctify them, so that these infirmities should
not be among them, else when people see them with this infirmity, how will they
know they are His disciples, after His holiness? It will show the world that Jesus
Christ has not dealt with sin problem perfectly. He came to deal with sin problem
perfectly.

Hebrews 9 verse 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the
eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from
dead works to serve the living God?
Luke 1 verses 74 to 75
74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our
enemies might serve him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

This means that He will give us a righteous heart that will not fall into sin.

HEART
4.2 MANIFESTATION OF INBRED SIN IN THE CHURCH OF CHRIST
AMONG BRETHREN

First Corinthians 3 verses 1 to 4

1 “ And I, brethren could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal
even as unto babes in Christ
2 I have fed you with milk and not with meat, for hitherto ye were not able to
bear it neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal, for whereas there is among you envying and strife and
divisions, are ye not carnal and walk as men?
4 for while one saith, I am of Paul, and another I am of Apollos, are ye not
carnal?
The term ’brethren’ in verse one shows that he was talking to people who were born
again, but envying and strife was among them. They were still manifesting carnality
among themselves. You are manifesting some sinful actions, that is why you are still
carnal. How do you behave in your family, work place and church? Are you there to
subdue everyone and do everything as you want? Then you are still carnal. If you are
there to show yourself for great and greater than all, then you are yet carnal and
unsanctified.
If as a leader, you are afraid that you may be removed, this is insecurity which arises
from Adamic nature. You may be born again, but why are you insecure? This inward
pollution troubling you is uncalled for because the Bible says, Psalm 119 verse 165
“Great peace have they which love Thy law and nothing shall offend them.”

The holiness of the church is dampened by carnal people, who profess holiness by
mouth but do not actually have it in life, because of lack of sanctification.

Song of Solomon 2 verse 15 “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines:
for our vines have tender grapes.”

Manifestation of adamic nature spoils the Christianity of a believer.

4.3 JESUS WANTS HIS CHURCH PURGED AND SANCTIFIED FROM SIN

Jesus did not want his Gospel to be abused, that is why He said, “Father sanctify them.
I am not physically with them in the world. If I were in the world, some of them will
look at Me and hide themselves, but I am not there for righteousness to flow freely.”

30
31

HEART
That is what we desire of you brethren, among the Coordinators, Chapter leaders,
Pastors and Teachers, Choir, Ushers, that you will be sanctified. If you are removed
from the work, you will not have grudges against people. Your mind will be peaceful.
Believe that God removed you for a reason, maybe God even showed the reason. This
sinful nature is abusing the commission of holiness that God has given to Holiness
Revival Movement Worldwide to live and preach in this end time

Philippians chapter 2 verses 15 to 16

15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the
midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have
not run in vain, neither laboured in vain..

Due to the manifestation of this adamic and carnal nature, people are withdrawing from
God and His service. The adamic nature or inward pollution needs to be purged. Go
back to God, like David did. Go the second time to God and say, “Lord I was shapen
in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me. I have a body of sin. Purge me with
hyssop, wash me and I will be whiter than snow. I want to really be holy.”

John the Baptist overcame provocation to envy over the ministry of Jesus. People told
him, “Do you know the other man you bore record of is baptizing more people than
you?” They wanted to make John envious. John said, John chapter 3 28-30“You are
witnesses, I told you that I am not He. I said He that is coming is greater than I,
whose shoes lachet I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. He that has the bride is
the bridegroom. I am just a friend of the bridegroom and the friend of the bridegroom
rejoices at the voice of the bridegroom. Herein, am I satisfied. He shall increase but
I will decrease.”

It takes sanctification of heart to say this. This is Holiness. When Jesus came to the
world, did He manifest any sin in His life? He wants you to be like that. He does not
want you to interfere with the Holy Spirit in His work among men in the church or in
the world.

Corrupt preachers make themselves kings and overshadow everybody. There is no

righteousness in them. Everybody has his proper gift in the house of God, why are you
blocking people because of envy? How can you achieve spiritual fullness and how can
the Holy Spirit have His way? You stand by the door and do not allow people to enter
in. That is why you must be sanctified. You need to be free from strife, envy, anger,
malice and pride.

32
33

HEART
You were given assignment and you did very well. Because of this people will not rest
again. You say, “Is there anybody here like me?” Because the pastor shows you love,
you think you are better than everybody. Haman, what should the king do to the man
he loves? “Which other man, if not Haman? King, bring out your best horse. Dress it
in the best apparel and let the man sit on it; then bring one of your best leaders to lead
the man.” The man will be Haman. That is your thought, because there is corruption
and pollution in your heart due to adamic nature.

4.4 BELIEVERS MUST BE HUMBLE

The love of God for us ought to humble believers. Boaz said to Ruth “You came here
to glean? They will give you food to eat and some portion to glean. I have instructed
my people to leave some portion purposely because of you.” She bowed down and
said, “I have found favour in your sight. Who is your hand maid that you will speak
gently like that to? is it me?” she responded in humility to the love and favour of Boaz.
This is how it should be.

The love of God should make you humble, but Adamic nature in you does not allow
this. Rather it makes you heady among the brethren. You are loved and cherished to
make you better as the Bible says, “Your gentleness maketh me great.” The love of
God is to make you great in righteousness. Again the scripture says “The greatest
among you should be the least.” Adamic nature will not allow that.
Envy, strife, debate and division were going on in the church that was in Corinth. This
is a universal experience.

Believers in Nigeria, Africa, Asia, America and Europe manifest this same thing. The
only solution is sanctification which Jesus prayed for. Are we not ashamed of some
prominent Christians that fumble and exercise ungodly anger? Some of them tactically
plan wickedness to block others, although they preach wonderfully. Even as a leader,
you are ashamed of yourself because the works of your hands are not really clean. You
are guilty. There is somebody you are pursuing in your congregation because you are
King Saul and that person is David, David is taking over your throne. May the God of
heaven sanctify you wholly, Amen.

You may be a Christian, but you are stubborn, yet you do not know why. The Bible
says “Consider them that minister among you and esteem them very highly in love.”
This is not in you because there is something that looks stony in your heart. You know
that you lack real respect, appreciation and gratitude towards leadership.

First Thessalonians 5 verses 12 to 13 HEART

12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are
over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace
among yourselves.

But you don’t do so. Rather when the leader gives you assignment, you do not do it
because the real fear and reverence for him as a minister of God is not in your heart.
Your heart is dry. But you are born again. This is a clear manifestation of Adamic
nature. Take yourself back to God to get those things removed. He will give you a heart
of flesh so that your heart can be touched. Your heart can feel real compassion, real
love, real obedience, real care and real submission. This is sanctification.

Ezekiel chapter 36 verses 25 to 27

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your
filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will
take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye
shall keep my judgments, and do them.
4.5 SANCTIFICATION IS A MUST FOR BELIEVERS TO ENTER HEAVEN

Ephesians chapter 5 verse 25 to 27

25 Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the Church and gave
himself for it.
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.
27. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Remember Christ said, “Thine they were and You have given them to Me. They have
become mine.” He said this before He died showing that those He was praying for to
be sanctified were already believers. This was because the sacrifice for believers’
sanctification was included in the redemptive plan of the Cross. The cross is first a
sacrifice for sinners’ salvation, then secondly a sacrifice for believers’ sanctification.

“Husbands love your wives even as Christ loved the church.” You have married
already, just as He has gotten the Church already to Himself and gave Himself for it.
He died for them that He might sanctify them. It means to give you a step above
salvation requires appropriating the benefits of the death of Christ. To bring you to
Holiness requires the application of the victory through the death of Christ. It is an
experience of righteousness whereby carnality does not manifest anymore. You are
sanctified so that you can be clean and holy without blemish or any such thing. That is
God’s desire for you and He is ready to do it for you.

First Thessalonians 5 verses 22 to 24

22. Abstain from all appearance of evil
23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly and I pray God your whole
spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ
24. Faithful is He that calleth you who also will do it.

39
CHAPTER FIVE

5. HOW TO BE SANCTIFIED
5.1 BE DETERMINED

In case you are worried about how God will do it and the conditions that need to be
fulfilled, be informed that what you need is purpose of heart, decision and
determination. You have to make up your mind.

Daniel chapter 1 verse 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile
himself with the portion of the King’s meat, nor with wine which he drank therefore
he requested of the prince of the Eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

If you do not want sin and evil to manifest in your life, come to that determination.
Come to that state that you have made up your mind that sin will not have dominion
over you and that sin will never rule your life. All carnality must be gotten rid of. Be
determined that your heart shall neither envy a man nor lust after a woman. Make up
your mind and when you come to that, it will be wonderful. Then you are ready for
sanctification.

Psalm 17:3 Thou has proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou has
tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my

HEART
mouth shall not transgress.
Job chapter 31 verses 1 to 2
1 “I made a covenant with my eyes, why then should I think upon a maid.
2 For what portion of God is there from above and what inheritance of the
Almighty from on high.”

I have agreed within myself not to lust after a woman. I will never tell lies. I will never
commit sin. Make an agreement with yourself. The Lord says “Ye shall sanctify
yourself” which means do something, consecrate yourself for this work that I will do in
your life, for I am the Lord that sanctifieth you.

Leviticus 11 verse 44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify
yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves
with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Leviticus 20 verses 7 to 8
7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God.
8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the Lord which sanctify you.

As for the miracle of change, I will give you but make up your mind to live a holy life.
Just as you tell a sinner to repent and believe in Jesus for power to stay away from sin,
to repent of sin and have a
40
41
change of mind towards sin, in the same way, you need to ask yourself, “What portion
is there of God in this attitude of mine? What portion is there of God in this thing
that I am manifesting in my life? Will it give glory to God? Does it make my life
glorify God? No, it will not. Therefore, I will not do it anymore.” By this, you are
consecrating yourself and when you come to God, He will do wonders in your life.

Psalm chapter 73 verses 24 to 25

24. “Thou shall guide me with thine counsel and afterward receive me to Glory.
25. Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire
beside thee”

Why should I be proud? What do I have that was not given to me? Job said the Lord
has given and the Lord has taken away. He can take it away. So rebuke, resist and say
no to yourself. I will not be proud and envious of anybody, I will be humble. I have
chosen the way of humility. This is consecration and determination not to go into sin.

5.2 HAVE FAITH IN GOD

Believe that God can do it. Believe that it is God that will make you clean, not man.

Matthew chapter 9 verses 27 to 30

HEART
27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying,
Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.
28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith
unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no
man know it.

Tell God what you want Him to do for you. Tell Him to take away the remains of sin,
adamic nature, inbred or inward pollution. In response to this, Jesus is saying, “Do you
believe I am able to keep you without committing sin?” The blind men said unto him
“Yea Lord.” Believe that God will keep you from sin and deliver you from temptation.
God will lead you away from evil and will raise a standard against the devil on your
behalf. God will sprinkle the blood of cleansing on your heart and in your life, for with
God all things are possible including sanctification and Holiness.

5.3 PRAY TO GOD FOR IT

Mark chapter 11 verse 24 “Therefore I say unto you, what thing soever ye desire
when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them.”
42
43
When you desire it, then pray and believe that you have it. God will give it to you. Jesus
tells us how this prayer should be done.

Luke chapter 11 verse 5 to 10

5. And he said unto them, which of you shall have a friend and shall go unto him
at midnight and say unto him, friend, lend me three loaves.
6. For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me and I have nothing to set before
him.
7. And he from within shall answer and say, trouble me not, the door is now shut
and my children are with me in bed, I cannot rise and give thee.
8. I say unto you, though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet
because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
9. And I say unto you, Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock
and it shall be opened unto you.
10. For every one that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth and to him that
knocketh, it shall be opened.

Keep praying until this is done. You need it to give you a holy heart and free entrance
into Heaven. Holiness is required for heaven. Ask for sanctification. God will help you
achieve your aim.

HEART
5.4 LEADERS NEED TO BE SANCTIFIED FIRST

The Lord has called us to bring forth the last revival to mankind in the world and to
revive the churches of Christ to righteousness and Holiness. If we are overcome by
carnality, how do we make others holy? Is it with our mouth? Every tree brings forth
fruit according to its kind. For our ministry is not by letter only, it is also by the spirit.
Therefore, our spirit must be just, clean and righteous to be able to communicate
holiness to the world. Man of God, woman of God, you must be holy for this holy
calling God has given you.

Go and teach the members of Holiness Revival Movement Worldwide, (HOREMOW)

everywhere that they should be sanctified. Take this message to them to get rid of
carnality from their lives. Be flexible where you are at all times and say like Jesus, “I
desire that this cup be taken away from Me, but not My will but Thine be done.”

Always say, “I am a leader today if it pleases You, but if otherwise, You want another
person, I submit.” That is holiness. That makes God to have His way. The footballers’
coach can replace anyone in the team because he wants them to score and win. What if
they all refuse to be touched? They will fail to
44
45
achieve their goal and may lose the game. All they are looking for is how to win. If they
notice that you are tired or not following the game plan, you may be withdrawn that
another person may take over. We want to win and when we win, we will all rejoice
together. So, let us be holy and clean, and let the Holy Spirit have His way.

Choristers should not sing as in competition and carnality. Self seeking or self
promotion should not be seen among you. It is not about your voice but your spirit. “I
will praise you with uprightness of heart after I have learnt your righteous
judgment.”

5.5 HOLINESS MUST BE THE FOUNDATION OF OUR SERVICE.

Holiness is number one before service, preaching, singing and worshipping. Holiness
should come first before Christian giving. There should be no self announcement. Your
pride will corrupt you before God. God said “Do not let your right hand know what
the left hand is giving, that your father who seeth in secret may reward you openly.”
So, your gifts and offerings are not for public announcement and vain glory. If for any
reason, praise comes by it, it is not for you but for the glory of God.

Be holy in the work place, in the house and in the church. Be holy in your ministry,
Holiness is what

HEART
we are looking for. Staff, brothers and sisters should conduct their marriages in
righteousness and not in carnality. When you pass gifts by all means for selfish gain,
you are unholy and you are manifesting inward pollution. You are not being led by God,
but you are playing games to bring pollution to the altar of God. May God be exalted
in our lives and ministry because it is Holiness that we desire to reign in Holiness
Revival Movement Worldwide.
Lord, let the Spirit of Holiness come down and abide with us in Jesus name, Amen.

CHAPTER SIX

1. EVIDENCE OF THE SANCTIFIED LIFE

There are three basic spiritual experiences of the Christian life which involves a man’s
relationship with God. These are Salvation from Sin, Sanctification of heart and
Baptism with the Holy Spirit. All these are receivable through faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ. The evidence that a believer is baptized with the Holy Spirit is speaking with
new tongues

Acts chapter 2 verse 4

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 10:45-46
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came
with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy
Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

When a sinner gives his life to Christ and becomes born again, there are evidences that
show in his life

HEART
Second Corinthians5 verse 17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
Romans 8:16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

6.1 BIBLE EVIDENCE OF SANCTIFIED LIFE

The following are the evidences of the sanctified heart

6.1.1 Personal Evidence

The believer receives inner purging that gives him freedom from carnality. He knows
by himself that his inner man has received fullness of righteousness.

Matthew 5 verse 6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be
filled.

6.1.1 The witness of the Holy Spirit

God bears witness to what He has done in the lives of His children. When a man is
sanctified, the Spirit of God will tell him so. The same Holy Spirit that bore witness to
his spirit when he got born again will bear witness to his heart purity and inner cleansing

48
49
First John 5 verse 10(a)
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself:
Romans chapter 8 verse 16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

6.1.3 Circumstantial Evidence

You know yourself and that infirmities of your heart before the sanctification
experience, you know those circumstances was of anger, pride and the likes. But you
now see your spontaneous reactions free from sin. You are no more the angry type. You
no longer feel deep pain you fill when someone speaks evil of you or attacks you in
public or in an evil way. You see peace and calmness in your heart at such provocation
that would have burn in you and caused you to react to your guilt and shame due to the
heart impurity.

Phillipians.4 verse 7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and
minds through Christ Jesus.
Psalm 119 verse 165
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Isaiah chapter 32 verse 17

Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear
all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.

These godly virtues of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness and Kindness which began
at salvation get more strengthened and deepened at sanctification, given you a better
sense of victory over sin within.

6.1.4 Personal Testimony

Being convinced and deeply assured of your heart purity and holiness of life that
accompanies that you can boldly testify to others of your holiness.
As some Bible saints did

a. Apostle Paul
First Thesselonians 2 verse 10
Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved
ourselves among you that believe:

b. Hezekiah
Isaiah 38 verse 2, and 3
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord,
3 And said, Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee
in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And
Hezekiah wept sore.
50
52
6.1.5 Divine Testimony

In Bible times as well as in contemporary time, God attest publicly to the holiness of
some of His children,

(i) Noah
Genesis 6 verse 9
These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his
generations, and Noah walked with God
And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee
have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

(ii) Job
Job 1 verse 8
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is
none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and
escheweth evil?

(iii) I, Pastor Paul Rika, the writer of this book have enjoyed heart sanctification
and holiness of life and live daily in His holiness

Romans 9 verse 1.
I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy
Ghost,

HEART
The Lord Jesus has through various ways and various people spoken to affirm the
righteous and holy life I live.

6.1.6 THE HOLY LIFE

The Holy Life is a Reality

The Holy Life is a Possibility
The Holy Life is the demand of God
The Holy Life is a gift of God
The Holy Life has become extinct in Christendom
The Holy Life has arisen as dry bones come back
The Holy Life is a must for the rapture and Heaven.

6.1.7 PRAYER AND SONG:

Make me righteous x3 O’Lord In the morning, in the night, anytime You may come,
make me righteous Oh Lord.

Make me humble x3 O’Lord In the morning, in the night, anytime You may come,
make me humble Oh Lord.

make me spotless Oh Lord.

52
53
Make me blameless x3 O’Lord In the morning, in the night, anytime You may come,
make me blameless Oh Lord.

Make me Holy x3 O’Lord In the morning, in the night, anytime You may come, make
