How Does Social Media Affect Climate Policies and Engagement?

Smith, John. Understanding Climate Change: A Comprehensive Guide. New York: Green Earth
Press, 2020.

“Understanding Climate Change” a piece of literature that I've skimmed where in this
book, Smith Examines the plethora of impacts of climate change, addressing both scientific and
sociopolitical extent. He argues that effective climate action requires an understanding of both
environmental science and public policy. Smith provides extensive case studies, illustrating how
various countries are responding to climate changes. This Source will inform my thesis by
providing a foundational understanding of climate change and its implications for Global policy,
serving as a primary text that contextualizes my arguments regarding the necessary coordinated
International efforts.

Doe, Jane. "The Role of Social Media in Climate Activism." Journal of Environmental Studies,
vol. 45, no. 3, 2021, pp. 233-250.

Go explores the intersection of social media and climate activism, arguing that platforms
like Twitter and Instagram have revolutionized how activists mobilize and engage the public. She
provides data showing increased youth participation and climate movements coordinated with
social media campaigns. This article will enhance my analysis of modern activism strategies in
my research, helping to illustrate how digital tools can empower movements and affect policy
change. It highlights the importance of communication and advocating, which is crucial for my
thesis on the evolution of environmental activism.

Johnson, Mary, and Robert Lee. Climate Justice: A Global Perspective. London: Earthscan,

includes a variety of case studies that demonstrate the urgent need for inclusive policy making
this Source will be pivotal in my argument regarding environmental policy and social justice. By
integrating their findings with those who have made similar case studies I can advocate for
policies that not only address climate change but also prioritize equality in order to find an
equilibrium that is just.

Anderson, Laura. "Environmental Education and Youth Engagement." Educational Research

Review, vol. 32, no. 4, 2022, pp. 112-130.

Anderson discusses the importance of Environmental Education in schools and its impact
on youth engagement and climate issues. She presents data indicating that students exposed to
comprehensive environmental curricula are more likely to participate in sustainable initiatives.
This article will support my research by providing insights into how education can be a tool for
fostering environmental stewardship among young people. By linking educational strategies to
increased activism, I will argue for the necessity of integrating Environmental Education into
standard curriculum to show to the youth that the climate can be cool.

Nguyen, Alex. "Policy Responses to Climate Change: A Comparative Analysis." Global Policy
Journal, vol. 15, no. 1, 2020, pp. 44-59.

Nguyen analyzes various policy responses to climate change across different nations, by
evaluating their effectiveness and shortcomings. He discusses how the will and support of the
public play crucial roles in the success of these initiatives. This article will be instrumental in my
thesis as it provides comparative feedback for assessing national responses to climate change. By
examining successful case studies, I can better argue for specific policy recommendations in my
research that have been proven to be effective and beneficial to the cause. All it takes is our
generation's will to better the world for our children and theirs to come.
