Flavia Bujor looks and sounds like any other French young woman as she sits with
her fruit juice in a Parisian café, but there is a difference. After moving to Paris from
Romania when she was two, Flavia grew up reading the stories of Lord of the Rings
written by JRR Tolkien.
Flavia was born on 8th August 1988. Her father is a sculptor, and her mother is a
psychoanalyst who works with young adults and teenagers. They taught Flavia to
read before she started school and read to her Shakespeare´s plays and Romanian
fairy tales. She had a passion for stories from an early age.
When she was 12, she sat down and wrote a fantasy novel called The Prophecy of
the Stones, also known as The Prophecy of the Gems (original title in French: “La
Prophètie des Pierres”). It has sold more than 50,000 copies, is now available in 23
different languages and has made her a rich, young woman. Has success changed
her? No. Her parents have never treated her any differently. When she was younger
she went to school, and did her homework. Now she loves hanging out with her
friends.
Bujor lives with her parents in Paris and is currently working on her second novel
whose title she has not decided yet.

Passage to be read by the teacher:

The Kinks were one of the most important British bands in the 1960´s and 1970´s.
They played a mix of traditional pop, country, folk and blues music, and influenced
modern bands including Blur and Oasis. Ray and Dave Davies are the most well
known members of the band. The brothers were born in London and played the
guitar and sang together from an early age. In the early 60´s, they formed a band
called The Ravens. In 1964, they got a very important record contract with an
important company. They also replaced the drummer and changed their name to the
Kinks. The band’s third single, You really got me, reached the top of the charts in
Britain and America. They followed it with famous hits like Sunny afternoon, Waterloo
Sunset and Lola.
