LESSON PLAN (LISTENING)

Level: A1
Listening – Listening Practice Time 30 minutes
Lesson Through Family and Friends 1

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:


- Recall vocabulary about the topic “Colors”.
- Remember, pronounce correctly new words and sentences related to the topic
“Animals”. (Vocab)
Outcome - Listen and understand the context of the topic “Favorite Animals” from the audio.
- Listen and complete the dictation tasks.
- Use the ideas from the listening part to produce a speech about the food that students
would like to eat daily.
Procedures of 1. Warm-up (5 minutes):
instruction - Introduce vocabulary to lead in new lesson by playing the game “Bingo”
(vocabulary: pink, blue, violet, green, yellow, white, brown, black, gray)
- Teacher says: “Now, let’s play a game called Bingo”
- Teacher says “Two teams” and say the name of 3 students for each team.
+ Vy, Yến, Huyền: You’re in team 1
+ Ngân, Diễm, Lý: You’re in team 2
- Teacher asks student to raise hand to make sure they know what team they in and
name their team.
+ Now, who’s in team 1, raise hand please
+ Now, who’s in team 2 raise hand please
- Teacher ask Vy “What is your favorite color?”, Vy answer: I like…
- Teacher announces “So your team will be…”
- Teacher ask Lý “What is your favorite color?”, Lý answer: I like…
- Teacher announces “So your team will be…”
- Teacher gives instructions: “ In this game, you will choose a number and look at the
picture, then say your team’s name after I count 1,2,3 and answer the question.
Which team is faster and correct get 5 points.”
- Teacher says: “Let’s do an example”
+ Ngân: Choose a number for me please. Ok. Now I count 1,2,3:
- ICQs: So let’s check:
+ Do you say your team's name before or after I count 1,2,3? =>AFTER
+ Do you say your team's name before saying the ans? => Yes
- Teacher gives signal to start. Teacher says “Are you ready?”, “ Let’s go”
- Teacher begins the game, checks the answer and announce the winner.
2. Lead in (1 min 30 seconds)
- Teacher shows picture of animals in a zoo.
- Teacher asks: “What animals do you see in the picture?”
- Students answer “a giraffe, an elephant, a zebra,…”
- Teacher says “Very good! Today we are going to learn some new words related to
the topic Animals.”
3. Vocabulary (7 minutes)
Monkey(n) , Climb (v), Furry (adj)
a. Boxing
- Teacher shows pictures of a monkey and asks: “What animal is it?”
- Student gives answers “monkey,…”
- Teacher gives answers “It’s monkey”
- Teacher reads the phrase: “It’s monkey” (two times)
- Teacher asks students to repeat vocabulary: the whole class (two times) ->
individually (two times). ( Diễm, Huyền)
- Teacher concepts check, shows pictures on-screen and asks: “Which picture is a
monkey? A or B”.
b. Climbing
- Teacher shows pictures of a monkey when he/she is climbing and asks: “What is it
doing?”
- Students give answers “climbling…
- Teacher gives answers “It is climbing.”
- Teacher reads the phrase: “It’s climbing” (two times)
- Teacher asks students to repeat vocabulary: the whole class (two times) ->
individually (two times). ( Lý, Ngân)
- Teacher concepts check, shows pictures on-screen and asks: “Which monkey is
climbing? A or B”.
c. Furry
- Teacher shows pictures of a furry monkey and asks: “Can you tell me how does it
look?” - Students gives answers
- Teacher gives answer “It is furry”
- Teacher reads the phrase: “It is furry” (two times)
- Teacher asks students to repeat vocabulary: the whole class (two times) ->
individually (two times).
- T concepts check, shows pictures on-screen and asks: “Which monkey is furry ?”
"A or B”.
❖ Practice:
- Teacher shows three phrases with picture on the screen. Read each phrases and asks
student to repeat. [it’s a monkey;It is climbing ;It is furry]
+ it’s a monkey: scratch head, open eyes
+ It is climbing: Raise one or both hands as if you are holding onto a branch.
+ It is furry: use hands stroke around head as there is fur.
- Teacher says “ First let’s do the action and say the words together” – ask student to
do the same.
- Then say the words and ask students to do the action.
+ “ Do you say or you do” “ Do I say or i do”
- Finally do the actions and ask students to say the words”.
+ “ Do you say or you do” “ Do I say or i do”
- ICQs: Do you say the word ? Do you do the action ? Do I say the word ? Do I do the
action ?
❖ Produce:
- Teacher says “Now let's play a game. It's called BINGO.”
- Teacher checks team “do u still remember your team's name. So who's in team 1.
raise hand. who's team 2 , raise hand.”

- Teacher gives instructions: “In this game, u will look at the picture. You say:
“Bingo” after I count 1,2,3. then u give me the ans. Which team is faster and correct
will get one point. Let's make an example”
- ICQs:
+ Do you say Bingo or your team name?
+ Do you say before or after I say 1,2,3?
- Teacher gives sign to start: “ Let’s go”
4. Listening (15 minutes)
❖ Pre-listening:
- Teacher show picture and asks: “ Look at the picture and tell me what can you see”
- Teacher introduces the context: “So today we are going to listen about the topic “
Favorite Animal in the Zoo ”
❖ While-listening:
Listening Task 1- Gist task
- Teacher says “Now let’s do task 1”
- Teacher shows 4 questions and ask students to read the questions out loud
- Teacher gives clues about the word type of the answer for each question
+ Ok Ngân, read the first sentence for me pls…
+ What is word type that may be the answer?
+ Oke Huyền…
+ Diễm..
+ Vy….
- ICQs:
+ “Do you write the answer or read the answer ?”[write];
+Do you listen to the audio to find the answer ? Yes or No? [yes];
+ Do you do it alone or in group? [alone]
- Teacher gives out the handout
+ Here is your handout.
- Teacher says “Now let’s do the task”
- Teacher checks if students do and finish the task
+ have you finished? Let’s check together.
- Teacher checks answers by asking the whole class and shows the answers (ghi đáp
án vô chat box)
Listening Task 2 - Specific information task
- Teacher say:” Now, we will play a game in two team. Do you remenber your
team?
- Who’s in team 1, raise hand please?
- Who’s in team 2, raise hand please?
- Teacher gives instructions: “Listen to the audio and write down the full sentences in
the google doc link I’ll send you in the box chat. Which team finish first will have 5
points”.
- ICQs: “Do you listen to the audio and write the sentences ? Yes or No ? [yes]
- Teacher checks the answer.
- Teacher say the team name which finishes first. “ Can you read the whole sentence
for me please”

- Teacher gives student the script, asks the class to take turn to repeat the conversation
[read the script together with the audio] “Listen to the audio and read along the script
Then you will work in pairs.
One will be Max and one will be Holly and then change the roles.”
- ICQs: : Read or Write
When you listen, do you read along the script? [Yes]
After you listen, you will practice alone or practice in pairs?
❖ Post listening
- Teacher shows the questions with some possible answers. Ask students to read the
questions and answer as an example.Teacher asks student to practice within their
team to ask and answer the question on the screen.
“Now practice in pairs with your friends, one will ask using these questions, and one
will answer”
Let’s do an example : Vy, what is your favorite animal?

5. Wrap-up (1 min)
