2.b. 1.38 − 1 = 0.38 , so the percentage of total raise is 38 % . ½
2.c. 3 450 000 = 1.38 × 𝑥 , hence 𝑥 = 2 500 000 . ½
Randa’s salary was 2 500 000 L.L .

1.a.The G(𝑥 ) = ( 3𝑥 – 5 ) − ( 𝑥 + 1)( 3𝑥 − 5) ½
= 6 = 9𝑥 2 − 30𝑥 + 25 − (3𝑥 2 − 2𝑥 − 5 ) = 6𝑥 2 − 28𝑥 + 30 .
1.b. P(𝑥 ) = 9𝑥 2 − 30𝑥 + 25 = (3𝑥 − 5)2 . 1
G(𝑥 ) = ( 3𝑥 – 5 )2 − ( 𝑥 + 1)( 3𝑥 − 5) = (3𝑥 − 5)(3𝑥 − 5 − 𝑥 − 1)
= (3𝑥 − 5)(2𝑥 − 6) = 2(3𝑥 − 5)(𝑥 − 3).
2.a 𝐴𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑑 = 𝐴𝐴𝐵𝐶𝐷 − 𝐴𝑀𝑁𝑂𝑃 = ( 3𝑥 – 5 )2 − ( 𝑥 + 1)( 3𝑥 − 5) = 𝐺 (𝑥 ). ½
2.b. 𝐺 (𝑥 ) = 30 ; 6𝑥 2 − 28𝑥 + 30 = 30 ; 2𝑥 ( 3 𝑥 − 14) = 0 ; ¾
14
𝑥 = 0 ( 𝑟𝑒𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑑 ) 𝑜𝑟 𝑥 = (𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑑 ).

3.a. 𝑃(𝑥) (3𝑥−5)2 ½
S(𝑥) = = 2 (3𝑥−5)( 𝑥− 3).
2 (3𝑥−5)( 𝑥− 3)

2 (3𝑥 −5) ( 𝑥− 3) 2𝑥− 6

3.c. 3𝑥 − 5 ½
S( 𝑥 ) = 1 , = 1 , so 𝑥 = −1 (accepted) .
2𝑥− 6
Q.IV. Answers 5 points
1. ¾

(d’)

2. B belongs to y’oy , so 𝑥 𝐵 = 0 & B belongs to (d) , so 𝑦𝐵 = − 2𝑥 𝐵 + 6 ½

then 𝑦𝐵 = 6 so B ( 0 ; 6 ) .
3. 1 1 ½
𝑦𝐸 =? 2 𝑥 𝐸 + 1 ; 4 = 4 ; True . 𝑦𝐹 =? 2 𝑥 𝐹 + 1 ; 1=1 ; True.
So E and F belong to (d’), because their coordinates verify its equation.
4.a. 1 ½
𝑦𝑃 =? − 2𝑥 𝑃 + 6 ; 2 = 2 ; True. 𝑦𝑃 =? 𝑥 𝑃 + 1 ; 2 = 2 ; True.
2
So P belongs to (d) and (d’) , because its coordinates verify the 2 equations.
So (d) and (d’) intersect at P.
4.b. PB = √(𝑥𝐵 − 𝑥 𝑃 )2 + (𝑦𝐵 − 𝑦𝑃 )2 = 2√ 5 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑠. 1
PE = √(𝑥 𝐸 − 𝑥 𝑃 )2 + (𝑦𝐸 − 𝑦𝑃 )2 = 2√ 5 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑠.
4.c. 𝑎(𝑑) × 𝑎(𝑑′ ) = −1 ; so (d) ꓕ(d’) at P . ¾
B is on (d’) ; E and F are on (d) , so BPE is a right triangle at P .
But PB = PE , so BPE is right isosceles at P ( 1 right angle & 2 = sides)
𝑥 +𝑥 𝑦 +𝑦
5.a 𝑥𝑀 = 𝐵 𝐸 = 3 ; 𝑦𝑀 = 𝑀 𝐸 = 5 . So M (3 ; 5). ½
2 2
5.b. BEP is an isosceles triangle of principal vertex P , so the median ( PM ) relative ½
̂.
to the base [ BE] is at the same time bisector of the angle 𝐵𝑃𝐸
(PM) :𝑦 = 𝑎𝑥 + 𝑏 .
𝑦 −𝑦
𝑎(𝑃𝑀) = 𝑀 𝑃 = 3. P belongs to (PM) so : 𝑦𝑃 = 3𝑥 𝑃 + 𝑏 ; b = - 4.
𝑥𝑀 −𝑥𝑃
So (PM) : 𝑦 = 3𝑥 − 4 .
Q.V. Answers 5 points
1. ¾

2. ̂ = 90˚(inscribed angle facing the diameter [AB]),

E belongs to (C) , so 𝐴𝐸𝐵 ½
so triangle AEB is right at E ( 1 right angle).
3. ̂ = 90˚ , then (BE) is a height in triangle ABM.
𝐴𝐸𝐵 ¾
But AE = EM (by symmetry) , so (BE) is a median in triangle ABM ,
then (BE) is at the same time median and height in triangle ABM , hence ABM is
an isosceles triangle of principal vertex B.
4. In triangle ABM: 1¼
O is midpoint of [AB] and S is midpoint of [BM],
then (OS) //(AM) (Midpoints Theorem in triangle) ,
𝐵𝐴 𝐵𝑀 𝐴𝑀 𝐵𝐴 6
then 𝐵𝑂 = 𝐵𝑆 = 𝑂𝑆 ( Thales’ Theorem) , but 𝐵𝑂 = 3 = 2 ,
𝐵𝐴 𝐵𝑀 𝐴𝑀
then 𝐵𝑂 = 𝐵𝑆 = 𝑂𝑆 = 2 > 1 ,
then triangle ABM is an enlargement of triangle OBS of scale factor 2 .
5.a. In triangle AMJ: 1
(JE) is the 1st height and (MP) is the 2nd height,
but (JE) and (MP) intersect at B, so B is the orthocenter of this triangle.
(AT) passes through B , then (AT) is the 3 rd height and thus (AT) ꓕ (MJ).
5.b. MEB and MTB are 2 right triangles at E and T respectively, of common ¾
hypotenuse [MB], so they are inscribed in a circle of diameter [MB]. Thus , the
points M , E , B and T belong to the same circle of diameter [MB].
