Assessment?”

APPROPRI

- This tool is crucial for assessing and

evaluating students learning and can provide
different options.(e.g., checklists, rating scales,
rubrics, portfolios,exams and peer evaluation).
TYPES O F A S S E S M E N T :

Formative Assessment
-It provides feedback and information during the instructional
process, while the learning process continues.
-It occurs out when learning is still taking place, during the teaching
process.
-The most common illustration of this is impromptu tests.

Summative Assessment
-Takes place after the learning has been completed
-It seeks to assess a student's learning and academic performance.
- It provides feedback at the end of the grading period.
TYPES O F A S S E S M E N T :

Diagnostic Assessment
-It aids in the teacher's planning of both the content and delivery of the
lesson.
-Its purpose is to assess students academic strengths and deficiencies.
-It is delivered prior to the instruction.

Authentic assessment
-It often consists of tasks that students must complete and is graded
using rubrics.
- It outlines the various assessment methods that educators use to
evaluate students' learning, performance, determination, and attitudes
toward class activities.
E-PORTFOLI O ( E L E C T R O N I C
PORTFOLIO)

- Is a digital collection of evidence showcasing a

student’s learning journey over time that showing of
cabailities, efforts and achievements. (course-related
work like essays,posters,photographs,videos artwork and
created by students.)
- Exists online documents and make visible
supports students learning.

PORTFOLIO

- A user-assembled and user-managed collection of electronic

evidence is called an electronic portfolio.
- This electronic web may contain hyperlinks, blog entries, video,
photos, electronic files, and input text.
- E-portfolios serve as platforms for self-expression as well as
showcases of the user's skills. They can be dynamically
maintained over time by users if they are online.
The Learning Theory

- E-portfolios “are a way to generate learning as well as

document learning"-Basken(2008)

1. Constructing Knowledge - According to this theory, learning

occurs most efficiently when students build their own knowledge
systems as opposed just receiving information.

2. Making Learning Visible - The critical reflection process that

goes into creating effective e-portfolios is characterized as one
that makes "invisible learning" visible.
The Learning Theory

3. Fostering Students Activity - They encourage motivation

and engagement by giving students the freedom to select
the artifacts that are used and to reflect on the learning
process.
Invisible learning

1. Every time a student or anyone else tries to learn

something or do anything, there are intermediate
phases involved.
2. The knowledge that transcends the affective,
personal, and identity-related domains.
TYPES OF E-PORTFOLIO

1. Assessment ePortfolios:
2. Learning ePortfolios:
3. Career/Transfer ePortfolios:
Types of e-portfolio

1. Assessment ePortfolios: the audience is internal to the

institution and the goal is to support institutional outcomes
assessment.

2. Learning ePortfolios: the audience is students themselves, and

the goal is helping students examine and reflect on their learning.

3. Career/Transfer ePortfolios: the audience is external, and the

goal is to provide students with a tool for showcasing their
achievements to employers or transfer institutions.
Generalization

Additionally, e-portfolios are useful resources for professional and educational

growth. They enable lifetime learning, combine a variety of learning experiences,
demonstrate abilities, and promote reflection on educational experiences. They
also act as a thorough log of a student's progress, enabling evaluation and goal-
setting to encourage a culture of ongoing education and self-improvement by
enabling people to modify their approaches as necessary. All things considered,
e-portfolios are an effective instrument for improving learning, individual
development, and preparedness for the workforce in both academic and
professional settings.
Assignment

Answer the following questions.

1. Could you list at least three categories of assessment tools and give
instances of how each might be used successfully in a classroom?
2. How can teachers use information gathered from different assessment
instruments to enhance student learning outcomes and guide instruction?
3. In comparison to conventional paper-based examinations, how may
digital assessment technologies improve learning outcomes and student
engagement?
