Revision 5
The Lion and the Mouse
Once upon a time, deep in the jungle, a great Lion was
resting under the shade of a tree after a long day of
hunting. As the Lion lay fast asleep, a tiny Mouse came out
of his hole to search for food. The Mouse scurried over the Lion's paws, not realizing
what he was doing. Suddenly, the Lion woke up, feeling the little creature moving on
him. With a mighty roar, the Lion raised his paw and trapped the tiny Mouse beneath it.
The Mouse was terrified. “Please, mighty Lion, spare my life!” begged the Mouse. “I
didn’t mean to wake you! If you let me go, I promise I will help you one day, though I
am small.” The Lion looked at the tiny Mouse and laughed. “Help me? How could a little
creature like you ever help a great Lion like me?”
The Lion found the idea so amusing that he decided to let the Mouse go free. “Go
ahead, little one,” he said, releasing the Mouse from under his paw. “I don’t need your
help, but I’ll let you live.”
The Mouse scurried away quickly, thankful for his life. A few days passed, and the Lion
continued his life as the king of the jungle. However, one day, while wandering through
the trees, the Lion was caught in a hunter's net. The more the Lion struggled, the
tighter the ropes became around him. The Lion roared loudly, hoping someone would
come to help, but none of the big animals dared to approach.
Hearing the Lion’s desperate roars, the little Mouse remembered the Lion’s mercy.
Without hesitation, the Mouse ran toward the sound. When he saw the Lion caught in
the net, he knew he had to act quickly. “Don’t worry, Lion!” the Mouse squeaked. “I’ll
help you!”
With his sharp teeth, the Mouse began to gnaw at the ropes. He chewed and chewed,
working quickly, until finally, the ropes broke, and the Lion was freed. The Lion, amazed
by the Mouse’s bravery and speed, said, “I never thought you, a tiny Mouse, could help
me. But you saved my life, just as you promised.”
The Lion and the Mouse became friends from that day on. The Lion learned that even
the smallest creatures can be important and helpful, and the Mouse earned the respect
of the King of the Jungle.
