Protection Software. To broaden the audience, pricing information is not available in this document.
Dell PowerProtect Data Manager Plus software addresses IT operational complexity and propagation
of new technologies by leveraging a software-defined, platform. Dell PowerProtect Data Manager Plus
delivers next generation data management, enabling organizations to transform IT faster; with
confidence their data is protected and available to drive value as an asset for their business.
With operational simplicity, agility and flexibility at its core, Dell PowerProtect Data Manager enables
you to protect, manage and recover data on-premises, virtualized and cloud deployments with self-
service capabilities for operational efficiency and IT governance controls to ensure compliance.
Key features:
Software defined with built-in deduplication for data protection, replication and reuse
Self-service for data owners combined with central IT governance
Multi cloud optimized with built-in cloud tiering
SaaS-based management, compliance & predictive analytics
Modern services-based architecture for ease of deployment, scaling and upgrading
Both Dell PowerProtect Data Manager Plus and Dell Data Protection Suite Plus include:
PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition
Dell Cloud Tier
Dell vProtect
Dell Cloud Snapshot Manager
PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) enables data protection in the cloud for applications
running in the cloud. DDVE in the cloud allows for both backup and replication. Data can be moved to
an on-premise PowerProtect DD and backup to the cloud, or even backup and replicate data between
two instances of DDVE running in the cloud or on-premise. This allows multiple DDVE instances to be
spun up in other regions and backup and replicate the data over to keep everything consistent.
For every 1FETB of the cloud offer, 1.5BETB of PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition for backups and
another 1.5BETB of PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition for replication is made available. This means
3
Internal Use - Confidential
1FETB of the cloud offer comes included with 1.5TB of primary backup plus 1.5TB of secondary (for
replication), for a total of 3TB of BETB DDVE to protect 1FETB of logical capacity for the cloud offer.
As an example, to fully protect 64FETB you will need 96TB of DDVE for backups plus another 96TB of
DDVE for replication for a total of 192TB of DDVE.
With Dell Cloud Tier, PowerProtect DD Series Appliances can natively tier deduplicated data to the
cloud. No separate cloud gateway or virtual appliance is required. So, you do not have to worry about
any additional physical footprint or management overhead. Data is sent directly from the PowerProtect
DD Appliance to the cloud with seamless management through PowerProtect DD Management Center
where the data movement policy is managed.
For enabling Dell Cloud Tier on either the source or the destination for long-term retention but not
both, for every 1 FETB of the cloud offer, 2x of 1.5 BETB DDVE = 3BETB of Cloud Tier is available.
For those customers that will use Cloud Tier in combination with a physical PowerProtect DD, a
minimum purchase of 20 FETB of the cloud offer is required for receiving the necessary metadata
shelves to enable cloud tier with any 1 PowerProtect DD of choice.
Further steps are necessary to obtain the physical metadata shelf and a sizing exercise is still required
to accurately assess what the cloud tier requirement would be.
Refer to the appendix “How to order a Cloud Tier physical metadata shelf”.
Dell vProtect expands hypervisor ecosystem coverage for more comprehensive data protection
solution offered through PowerProtect Data Manager. Dell vProtect is a backup and snapshot-
management tool for VMs/containers running in open virtual environments. Customers protecting
workloads running on any vProtect-supported hypervisor can now orchestrate, manage and protect
their applications and other data to PowerProtect DD protection storage appliance.
Dell Cloud Snapshot Manager (CSM) is included as a feature of PPDM and is activated with PPDM
subscription license. CSM is not listed with a separate SKU.
For PPDM Plus and Data Protection Suite Plus subscription bundles every FETB or socket equals 10
CSM instances.
Cloud Snapshot Manager is a SaaS solution that makes it easy to protect workloads in public cloud
environments - without requiring any installation or infrastructure. Customers can discover, orchestrate
and automate the protection of workloads across multiple clouds based on policies for seamless
backup and disaster recovery. CSM breaks cloud silos, allowing customers to use one tool to protect
workloads across multiple clouds.
To summarize, PowerProtect Data Manager Plus and Data Protection Suite Plus subscription terms of
12, 36, 48 and 60-months, with prepaid SKU. Billing annually is not yet available. With following
entitlements:
4
Internal Use - Confidential
CA = Registered Capacity of Data measured in Terabytes
IA = Instance measured per Server
* For socket licensing, VMs are limited only to what is a reasonable number of VMs to run on a socket.
When analysis was done in the past that reasonable number was somewhere around 8, 9, very close
to 10.
So, we do not put a limit on the number of VMs per socket, instead we know it is unreasonable to run
many more than 10 if you want them to perform appropriately.
However, to entitle existing PPDM Essentials customers, the desired route is for the Sales
Representative to initiate a “Zero Dollar” order through the standard DPA SW ordering path via
DSA/Gii or DOMS using the SKU identified below. Sales should then work through their normal “zero
dollar” approval process
DPA NetWorker Source Capacity 1TB B-CB
Please note that there is no specific DPA SKU for PPDM, so you will have to leverage the DPA SKU
for NetWorker to entitle PPDM Plus customers to DPA.
Note that when the initial “zero dollar” order is placed, the corresponding Support cost will also be
“zero dollars”. However, at renewal time, the customer will be accountable for the Support cost based
on the then documented support cost as a % of the list price (minus any discounts). Additionally, it is
recommended to provide the customer with a Support term of 3 years, so the customer will not have a
DPA Support cost burden for 3 years.

B=IA’ option is not desired, then another selection must be made prior to de-selecting ‘DPA-20 Backup
Clients-B=IA’ or this default will be automatically re-selected.
Note: You will notice in the screen shot below the required selection for the following SKU:

products. SW License information will now be sent to end user’s Install At e-mail address in addition
to other e-mail addresses out outlined in the section below.
Where the license is sent depends on the order type:
Direct Orders – Enter a valid email address in the Bill To and InstallAT email field; The digital
entitlement will be delivered to the email address in the Bill To field. If the domain matches Bill To,
Sold To or admin group user then end user in InstallAT field will also receive digital entitlement.
Channel Partner (VAR) Orders – Enter the VAR’s email address in the Bill To/Sold To email field;
enter the end-user’s email address in the Ship To and InstallAT email field. Registration code will be
sent to all.
Funder and DFS Orders – Enter a valid email address in the Sold To email field; The digital
entitlement will be delivered to the email address in the Sold To field.
Software and Peripherals (S&P) – Enter a valid email address in the Ship To email field; The digital
entitlement will be delivered to the email address in the Ship To field.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to always enter a valid customer email address and to never use a
place-holder or a dell.com domain email address. Without the correct customer email address,
the order is likely to be cancelled, delayed or not shipped at all.
Dell software licenses impacted by this requirement include but not limited to:

Integrated Data Protection Appliance, Aerohive, Cyberlink, Wyse, VxRail, Unity XT and Trident.
S&P (A-SKUs): VMware, Ivanti, Nvidia, Microsoft XBOX/Office, and Cumulus.
It is very important to provide the Dell Sale Order number when requesting support. Additional

Software Use Rights to be attached to all software
from DSA/Gii
It is important that we share with our customers how we define the various aspects of their equipment
purchase. You must include a copy of the following PDF to all Storage and Data Protection quotes
from DSA/Gii—this is to provide customers with the SW use rights definitions and legal requirements.
http://www.emc.com/collateral/software/warranty-maintenance/h2483-sw-use-rights.pdf
Sales must add a link to the use rights document (link above) to the quote notes for all new Storage
and Data Protection Products, so that customers can see a clear definition of usage rights that
corresponds with each two digit code at the end of the SKU description for each SW SKU quoted.
How customers will use this information
SW SKUs for these products include a two digit Code (such as CA, IA, IC, etc) at the end of
the SKU description such as “PowerProtect Database Agent SU=CA”
The Dell Software Use Rights document includes summary (page 1) and detailed description
(page 2- 8) of the terms of use for each two digit code, including “CA” from the example above

software. If the customer has the time and resources to deploy on their own, they may decline a
deployment service by selecting “No install” in L-Dell sales tool. The exception is the CyberRecovery
component. This requires Dell installation. Customers planning to use the CyberRecovery component
need to order the ProDeploy or ProDeploy Plus offering from the Additional Deployment Services
section.
ProDeploy Add-On Services
To ensure your new technology is configured and production-ready, we offer specialized services to add
scale or capabilities outside the standardized scope of ProDeploy or ProDeploy Plus – all orderable with
simple add-on SKUs. Available at Point of Sale or later.
Additional Deployment Time
A standard flexible scope service for 4- hour remote or 8-hour onsite blocks of time, delivered by a Dell
certified expert. Use to supplement ProDeploy Suite with additional or out-of-scope needs now or up to
1 year after purchase. Streamlines delivery and minimizes need for custom SOWs.
You can use additional deployment time for a variety of tasks, such as:
• EXPANDED SCOPE: Additional requirements beyond standard offers
• UNFORESEEN NEEDS: Unexpected assistance anytime within next year
• AD HOC TASKS: Short-term needs without the effort of a custom quoting process
Residency Services
Residency Services provide a dedicated hands-on storage expert to fill resource gaps, manage day-to-
day operations and help teams transition to new technologies. Residency offerings are available on a
custom basis from Legacy Dell delivery resources currently.
IMPORTANT: Data Protection Services Pre-Installation Review is NOT a Deploy service to install
PowerProtect SW.
It is a service to discuss the functionality of different SW licenses in the SW suite.
Data Protection Services Pre-Installation Review in Module 714 or 200437 (AMER VP Only) is
mandatory if your customer needs any deployment work from Dell. Select the Data Protection Services
Pre-Installation Review in Module 714 or 200437 and then move to Module 1277 or 200438 (AMER VP
Only DSA) or 1290 (Gii/Dellstar) to select the ProDeploy Suite and any Add-on services.
