Chem Notes Module 1
1-In this process petroleum is preheated to about 500 degree centigrade is sprayed from the bottom
into a raiser column containing the catalyst(aluminosilicate)
2-The powder catalyst mixes with oil at 700 degree centigrade, the it carries the mixture in the form
of fluidized state into reactor chamber where cracking takes place
3-The cracked products are transferred into a fractionating column for further separation
4-The spent catalyst is pumped from reactor chamber into a regeneration chamber hot air is blown
from the bottom to burn the carbon deposit on the catalyst surface
5-The regenerated catalyst is sent back to the reactor chamber and hence cracking process is
continuous
