Course Description
This course provides undergraduate law students with practical experience through a structured
internship at legal offices, lasting 10 to 12 weeks. Students will gain hands-on experience in
various legal settings, apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, and develop
professional skills essential for their future careers. The course includes pre-internship
preparation, weekly reflections during the internship, and post-internship assessments.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Apply theoretical legal knowledge in practical, real-world contexts.
2. Develop professional skills, including legal research, drafting, client interaction, and case
management.
3. Understand the functioning and structure of legal offices.
4. Reflect on their professional development and areas for improvement.
5. Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in a legal setting.
6. Build a professional network and gain insights into various legal career paths.

Internship Course Content


The internship course begins with first week of pre-internship preparation phase, where students
are introduced to the course overview, expectations, and the internship assessment criteria and
placement process emphasizing professional behavior and ethics in legal settings. During the
internship period students are placed in legal offices where they start by familiarizing themselves
with the legal office, workplace dynamics, and reflecting on their initial experiences. Subsequent
weeks cover legal research, drafting, client interaction, case management, ethical considerations,
specialized legal tasks, and advanced legal issues.
Mid-internship reviews involve self-assessment and feedback, while the final weeks focus on
professional development, networking, and completing pending tasks. The post-internship
assessment phase (Weeks 16-17) includes reflecting on the internship experience, preparing and
presenting the internship report, and receiving final feedback. This comprehensive syllabus
ensures students gain practical experience, reflect on their learning, and develop the necessary
skills for their future legal careers.

Internship Report Instructions


As part of internship at a law firm, students are required to prepare a comprehensive report
detailing the work you performed, the skills you acquired, and the insights you gained. This
report will serve as a reflection of your practical experience and professional development.
Below are the guidelines to help you structure your report effectively:

STRUCTURE OF THE INTERNSHIP REPORT


Length of report: minimum 10 A-4 Pages (excluding appendices).
Font: Times New Roman; Font size: 12. Number of Cases: 8-10 .
Senior Lawyer’s experience: Minimum 5 years working experiences as High Court
Lawyer.
