AutoCAD Interface:

One can create quick file by using start drawing tab and by default template of new file can be acad.dwt
User Interface of AutoCAD 2020:
It is mainly consisted of 6 parts.
1 ribbon
2 application button
3 Quick Access tool bar
4 drawing window : major part where we are going to spend majority time and having infinite space and one
can draw several plans and drawing in single file.
5 command line
6 call status bar

Ribbon tool bar

Application button and quick assess tool bar
Pan tool for drag the windows to see multiple files. Zoom window: to zoom in specific area. Drag
Zoom extent tool to see all drawing in the sheet mouse curser from left and remove hold.
Zoom object: to zoom specific object tool, select
specific object and press enter.
Most of time we will use zoom in out and pan tool in While working in 3D view:
and around the drawing. Use down arrow to see plan form front view.
Left arrow take us to left view and right arrow take
us to right view.
Blocks: it is collection of arc, line, rectangle many Groups: collection of drawing object they are
more and from help of property panel we can change combined together to manipulate. It can not used as
colour of object block. Blocks can be used as template template.
Clipboard : it is used to copy paste object. Utility: it provide quick calculation and quick
View panel use to see view from different angle. measurement
Model: it is consist infinite space for drawing
Layout: it is used for sheet creation purpose.
Unit: 1 soot = 1/8 inch.
Before starting drawing it is very important to select For smallest unit we will deal with soot (1 soot kam
in which unit to work? pad gaya 2 soot kam pad gaya)
Ft, mm, yard, mile Government and Highrise building works
Choosing of right unit is very important. Unit system is millimeter(mm) scale
Residential and small private commercial building 1 soot = 3.175 mm
consist Feet scale (Ft) unit system. 1 soot is bigger than mm scale so mm scale is more
1 ft = 12 inches precise.
Each inch is divided in to 8 equal parts. UNIT command : shortcut UN press enter
1 inch = 8 soot OR from application button choose drawing utility
and choose units.
For building work we will use decimal degree angle
and upto single decimal

For Highrise multistorey buildings we will use

decimal unit system
Architectural unit system is based on feet scale.
Smallest unit can measure 1/8 th of inch
Coordinate System:
1st Cartesian co-ordinate system
2nd polar co-ordinate system (R-Ɵ)

Tools:
Drawing a plan through the coordinate is slow process but we will use smart snap tools in AutoCAD for
drawing like professional.
For drawing line short cut = L
Always turn on dynamic tool option
Rectangle -fillet use to curvature and short cut = REC
Polyline: Shortcut -PLINE

Usually door hight 6’6’’

To draw inclined line first activate line command and press Tab key and entre angle before entering
coordinate.
Ramp slope basically 1:6 in parking with 9.5 degree angle.
Sill hight of window opening usually kept as 2’6’’ and window opening 3’6’’ x 4’6’’ and lintel level
usually kept same as door hight.
1’’ pipe used for electrical conducts
2’’ pipe used for main water line
4’’ pipe used for carrying waste water pipe from bathroom for sewage line.

Drawing objects using smart snap tools.

We use snap and modified tools for draw plans quickly.
We will use polar tracking tool instead of ortho tool
Use snap tool to draw line between two joint (Short cut -F3)
Draw cross sections of various footings
Loads from column usually distributed to large area soil through helps of steps.
Depth of steps = twice size of offset.
PCC: It is provide to level the ground surface so that footing can be formed on it.

Column height 3’
Offset 6” and step depth 1’ three time
Draw PCC 6’’ horizontal 6” vertical
Draw 5’ horizonal line 2 feet for offset both side and 1 feet column thickness.
To fill close figure so seen like solid use hatch tool. (area which is fill must be close figure.)
Shortcut for Hatch = H
AR-Con for concrete
Scale of hatch: Bigger scale value – less density
Smaller scale value -more density
ANSI 132 for Stone Masonry tool
For tax tool
Annotate or Shortcut T
Height 3 inch’’

Draw top view of footing

Type MEA command to measure size of object
Draw rectangle of last (PCC) object size (length) = 5’ x 5’
Copy recangle
Turn on offset tool shortcut O
Select object and place offset of 6”

For slopped footing use mirror command shortcut Mi

Use snap tracking tool for choosing middle point without drawing line
Trim line: TR
