a. Title:
"Exploring the Impact of Play-Based Learning on Early Literacy Development in Early
Childhood Education”
b. Reason:
Success in school and in life depends heavily on a child's early literacy abilities. Play-based
learning provides a dynamic environment that is beneficial to the development of language and
literacy. It is distinguished by child-initiated activities, discovery, and creativity. However, we still
need to discover more about how play-based learning affects young children's reading,
particularly in the context of elementary early childhood education.
The intention of this study is to investigate the various ways that play-based learning is
utilized in elementary early childhood education, including activities that foster language and
literacy skills, evaluate the effects of play-based learning on the growth of critical early literacy
skills, including reading readiness, phonemic awareness, vocabulary acquisition, and
comprehension, and investigate the role of teacher preparation and pedagogy.
Latest Studies and Existing Scenarios:
This study emphasized how the development of the physical, cognitive, and
socioemotional skills necessary for success in school reading and academics are fostered
through playful learning.

c. Theories:
This study primarily relies on Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory. Vygotsky's theory
introduces the concept of the ZPD, which is the difference between what a learner can do
independently and what they can achieve with guidance and support from a more
knowledgeable individual, such as a teacher or peer. In the context of play-based learning,
this theory suggests that educators can scaffold children's early literacy development by
providing appropriate levels of support, aligning with their current abilities. It emphasized the
importance of social interaction in cognitive development. Play-based learning environments
promote peer collaboration, communication, and cooperative problem-solving, all of which
can enhance early literacy skills.
