SAINT LUKE’S PRESCHOOL FAMILY

CHAPEL
OPENING SENTENCE

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:2

O Lord, open our lips;

And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
O God make speed to save us;
O Lord make haste to help us.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without
end. Amen.

Praise the Lord.

The Lord’s Name be praised

PSALM 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd;*
I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.*
He leads me beside still waters.
1
3 He restores my soul.*
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,*
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;*
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,*
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without
end. Amen.

A READING FROM HOLY SCRIPTURE

A reading from the Gospel according to Luke, beginning with the fifth
chapter, the first verse (Luke 5:1-11)
1 One time, as the crowd was pressing in on Jesus to hear God’s word,
he was standing by Lake Gennesaret. 2 He saw two boats at the edge
of the lake; the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. 3
He got into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, and asked him
to put out a little from the land. Then he sat down and was teaching
the crowds from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep
water and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we’ve worked hard all night long and
caught nothing. But if you say so, I’ll let down the nets.”

2
6 When they did this, they caught a great number of fish, and their
nets began to tear. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat
to come and help them; they came and filled both boats so full that
they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’s knees and said, “Go
away from me, because I’m a sinful man, Lord!” 9 For he and all
those with him were amazed at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and
so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s partners.
“Don’t be afraid,” Jesus told Simon. “From now on you will be fishing
for people.” 11 Then they brought the boats to land, left everything,
and followed him.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God

INTERCESSIONS
Prayers may be offered for ourselves and others.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Let us bless the Lord.

Thanks be to God.
