QAM GENERATION
AIM:
To Demonstrate and Simulate QAM generating circuit.
SOFTWARE TOOL:
MATLAB -
Simulink
COMPONENTS:
OP-AMP IC ,Dual Power Supply.
THEORY:

What is QAM?

QAM, or Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, is a modulation technique used in

digital communication systems. It combines two signal waves that are out of phase
by 90 degrees (quadrature) and modulates their amplitudes. This allows QAM to
encode data in both the amplitude and phase of the signals, which increases the
amount of information that can be transmitted over a given bandwidth.

In practical terms, QAM can be used in various applications, such as Wi-Fi, digital
television, and cellular communications. The number of different amplitude and
phase combinations defines the order of QAM (e.g., 16-QAM, 64-QAM, 256-
QAM), with higher orders allowing for more data to be sent simultaneously but
often requiring a better signal quality to avoid errors..

Applications of Quadrature Amplitude Modulation?

It is used in application such as:

1) Cable television:QAM is used to deliver video, audio, and data over cable
networks.
2) Wireless and cellular technology: QAM is used in broadband digital cellular
standards, such as LTE and WIMAX.
3) Public safety standards : QAM is used in public safety standards, such as
TETRA.
4) TV white spaces: QAM is used in TV white spaces, such as cognitive WRAN.
PROCEDURE:
1. Open schematic window of MATLAB Simulink.
2. Click on the menu and place the required components.
3. Connect them as shown in the circuit diagram.
4. Set the values of supply voltage.
5. Run the program.
6. Run the waveform in Vin and Vout.

TROUBLE SHOOT:

1. Finding of components (i.e OP-AMP)

2. Selecting the appropriate time for transient analysis.
OUTPUT WAVEFORM

CONCLUSION:

After simulating QAM in Simulink, the results confirm that higher-order QAM
increases data throughput but requires higher signal quality (SNR) to maintain
reliable communication. The output shows the trade-off between data rate and error
performance, with lower-order QAM offering better resilience to noise. Overall,
QAM is an effective method for high-speed data transmission in communication
systems.
