I am taking the CSMP to obtain a complimentary certification those I currently maintain because of
the way the ISMI approaches this particular post-nominal. Most American certifications have
grounding in experience or current job title. ISMI's approach is much more academic. It requires me
to not only learn or re-learn foundational topics in the field but to then demonstrate the learning in
an academic setting. The material presented is broader than the CPP which is the current standard
but, I believe, doesn’t compete with it but compliments it. ISMI takes a more international approach
to defining the elements of security in the corporate, government and private sectors, which give it
the wide acceptance and credibility the CSMP will command when noted in a professional's

I am extremely impressed with the monthly module content and for me each one has been current
and relevant to the work I carry out on a daily basis. I am now nearly half way through the
programme and have already made changes to the way I think and manage the security function I
am responsible for. To be successful on the CSMP Programme you cannot just flick though the
module content and answer a few simple questions at the end. It requires you to read thoroughly,
understand and then answer complex questions, giving real life examples and referencing your
answers back to the module content. It is a monthly challenge to get each module completed on
time and to the required standard, which will on completion make it a valuable and hard won
qualification. Finally the coaching, support and motivation given is first class, with feedback and
