A1-A2 Comparative Adjectives

We use comparative adjectives to highlight differences between two things or to indicate a change. The
way we form the comparative depends on the number of syllables in the adjective.
tall → taller
cold → colder
short → shorter
large → larger
close → closer
fat → fatter
wet → wetter
If a two-syllable adjective ends in a consonant and -y, we change -y to -i and add -er:
busy → busier
funny → funnier
hungry → hungrier
For most other two-syllable adjectives, and for all adjectives with three or more syllables, we
use more to form the comparative:

much → more
far → further/farther
