Course Description In an increasingly knowledge-based economy, an organization’s success is
highly dependent on the quality and performance of its employees. This
course emphasis on the fundamental concepts of the study and application
of Human Resource Management to enhance knowledge and skill to pursue
a successful career in HRM. The course starts with the premise that the
complexity of management increases with rapid technological development,
emergence of virtual organizations, e-commerce, globalization and
internationalization of industries. The course is designed in a manner so as
to equip the students with the basic knowledge of Human Resource
Management, the process of management inclusive of control and
evaluation and the strategies designed to apply the best organizational
design. The success status of an organization is closely correlated with the
behavior of those manning the organization. Best use of the Human
Resource management is the function of procurement, maintenance and

development of Human Resource that use in the dynamics of industrial
organizations. The completion of the course may help participants acquire
the skill necessary to manage Human Resource more effectively in the
context of globalization and knowledge explosion in technology the world
over.
Course objectives 1. Have introduced with the basic concepts, theories, principles
and frameworks of human resource management (HRM).
2. Understand the role that HRM is essential for effective
business administration.
3. Improve their ability to unfold the cause and effect relations
of managerial effectiveness in general and the impact of
Managerial relations on the growth and expansion of a firm in
particular.
4. Enhance their ability to think about how HRM should be used
as a tool to execute strategies.
5. Advance their analysing capability regarding the elements
such as the environment surrounding each company and their
vision, values and strategies as well as how these elements
relate to the various parts of HRM, such as HR policy,
organizational structure, HR systems (recruitment, placement,
evaluation, compensation and development) and
organizational culture.
6. Develop competency in investigating and utilizing various
contemporary techniques and practices in managing human
resource for effectively achieving organizational success.

Teaching Strategies
The class will be conducted through various activities including presentation of concepts and
situations, discussion and exchanges of ideas, student initiative and active involvement, cases
reflecting real world context, and a project. Students are actively involved and to take initiative
for their own learning experience.

4. Academic Integrity Policy
School of Business does not tolerate academic dishonesty by its students. At minimum,
student must not be involved in cheating, copyright infringement, submitting the same
work in multiple courses, significant collaboration with other individuals outside of
sanctioned group activities, and fabrications.
Students are advised that violations of the student code of conduct will be treated
seriously, with special attention given to the repeated offences.

Each group (between 2-5 students) will submit a final report consisting of 3000 words
(hard copy and electronic copy). Each team will also present the project for 20 to 25
minutes. More detail about the structure, components, time and criteria for assessment
of the project will be announced during the semester.
In order to complete the course, Students must submit all the required assignments and
sit for the exams. Make-up exams are not given unless there is a major circumstance
preventing the students from the sitting in the exam (official material evidence is
required). The timing of the make-up is to be fixed with the instructor of the course if
granted.
Attendance Policy
Students are required and expected to attend all classes and participate in all

discussions. North South University mandates to fail students who are absent 25% or
more form their classes, even if such absences are excusable.
