Pre-intermediate: Writing accurately W7

The graph shows how three key areas of the cost of living in the UK changed over a ten year period.

It is noticeable that all three areas increased over the period. There was an increase in the amount
of money people earned but there was also a rise in university fees and accommodation costs.

The average salary per year grew from 27,000 to 30,000 pounds over the ten year period. What is
interesting is that the number went up marginally in the first four years but after 2008 the number
stabilised at 30,000.

The average cost of university fees also increased over the period, going from around 1,000
pounds in 2004 to 9,000 in 2014. There was a slow rise until 2008. Then fees grew quickly before
stabilising in 2011. The average cost of accommodation also climbed from around 9,000 pounds to
12,000 over the period. There was a slight upturn between 2004 and 2008. This was followed by
a slight drop until 2012 when the price of housing rose again.
