Integrating Monorail System in Taguig City: Evaluating the Impact to land use and existing urban
landscape

- Bali the study aims to examine the advantage and disadvantage of each proposed station
para makapag provide ng recommendations to possible solutions.
- The goal then is to choose a location that maximalize convenience for commuters.
➢ By this we select the site through the site selection process
1. Base on landuse and urban planning compatibility – if appropriate sa city’s CLUP,
access to nearby establishments, not negatively impact the area
2. Transportation Connectivity – dapat may direct access to major roads, minor
roads,near to major transits, easy to transfer to different modes of transport.
3. Accessibility – access to all users, access to residence, proximity to key
destinations.
4. Focus on areas within 15 minute walk

Design Concept

- The Urban Fusion Integration concept blends infrastructure, land use, transportation, and
public spaces to create a well-connected, cohesive urban environment.
➢ It means concept that brings together important city elements, like blending of
transportation, buildings, streets and parks – to make cities more connected.
➢ It focuses on designing cities where verything works together so people can more
around easier.
➢ Placing one meaningful structure to another that can benefit to it.

Design Philosophy

- “ A building has an integrity, just like a man, and just a seldom.”


- Meaning the building must speaks to its integrity – means it must remain true to its purpose,
design and set of principles.

Problem Setting –

- BGC as modern district and it leads to high volume or people during peak hours.
- Limited public transit
- Indirect access to mrt and lrt stations which force many commuters to rely on private
vehicles.

Statement of the Problem

- Understand the effects on land use and ensures alignment with BGC’s Urban planning
goals.

Base on our research na inalam naming ang mga disadvantages and advantages ng site, prof tell us
to just design stations na yung tingin naming ay ang pinaka weak.

3 main vulnerable sites or weakest site

1. Guadalupe Proposed Site


- Traffic congested ( foot traffic mainly)
- Lack of pedestrians lanes (narrow sidewalks)
- Overlapping transit options – yung mga jeep na nakapark lang for terminal
- Limited accessibility – not designed for people with disability.
2. Fort Bonifacio Proposed Site
- Base on our site visit pag rush hour traffic sa area na to
- Limited public transportation
3. Cuasay Propose Site
- Limited road space for expansion
- Inadequate road network
- Lack of pedestrians lanes
- More on commercial spaces

For the general design materials that have been used is yung mga materials na sustainable and
eco friendly:

1. CEB or Compressed Earth Blocks made of soil – available na to sa phillipines and nagiging
popular na din as sustainable building material, very affordable.
2. Geopolymer Concrete – good choice to for transit station, especially in terms of
sustainability, durability and strength. It is now available in Philippines, (indemand)
3. Wood panels – morethan it adds to aesthetic appeal big help to add warmth and natural
look. Eco friendly and has lower carboon footprint compared sa steel.

Fort Bonifacio Station

- Site was located sa parking lot and and that’s why open space ang ground para still yung
ambiance and and yung area is hindi ganon ka ma disrupt and dahil nga parking area siya
before I decided to input some garden.

SWOT Analysis

- Strength is easily accessible to many people


- Weakness – foot traffic and traffic congestion in the area
- Opportunity – strategic location ideal for transit station
- Threats – possible foot traffic in the area and distruption of landscape

For the design strategy

- Widen paths for easier passage


- Have access points for people with different needs, elevator
- Through out the design mas widen sidewalks to accoumdate large number of people
walking
- Sheltered waiting areas
- Tactile flooring and guide strips for blind people.

2. Cuasay station

- strategic because it faces the major road C5

- may jeepney terminal sa likod

- commercial spaces / market place

SWOT ANALYSIS

Strength

- Nasa C5 it offers connectivity and high foot traffic sa lugar and thas why ideal siya for transit
station
Weakness

- Weakness traffic so big help if ever magkaroon ng possible station dito

Opportunity

- Strategic kasi faces nga ng C5 and maraming schools and market place sa lugar so ang
target users nito is mga individual na like students, who wants to go inside the bgc.

Threats

- Potential construction distruption.

For the design strategy,

- Mixed used structure


- Widen pathways
- Green landscaping (wala green spaces don)

Perspectives

• Guadalupe station –
➢ Very crucial tong site because super lapit niya sa mrt
➢ busy yung lugar
➢ may terminal ng jeep sa likod and yung jeep also is naka park lang sa harap kaya medyo
congested

- busy yung location, high foot print traffic mas ideal to para maging monorail station papasok
ng bgc,

weakness

- dahil nga busy yunga area, and medyo limited yung space for expansion

Opportunity

- strategic location for connecting to the major trajor transit station by enhancing the transit
accessibility

Threat

- overcrowding, construction distruption and it might affect yung mga commercial vendors.
Design strategy

- provide sidewalks to accommodate highnumber of pedestrians and help reduce the foot
traffic. (explan ground floor) jeepney terminals
- Guapoda terminal revilization (mix used, ground terminal of jeepneys)
- Accessibility spaces for person with disability
- Dedicated waiting areas and seating areas.
