WORKSHEET

GRADE 9 SUBJECT - MATHEMATICS

CHAPTER: CIRCLES

1. In given figure, AB and CD are two equal chords of a circle with centre O.
OP and OQ are perpendiculars on chords AB and CD, respectively. If ∠POQ =
150º, then
∠APQ is equal to
(A) 30º (B) 75º (C) 15º (D) 60º

2. In Figure, if ∠OAB = 40º, then ∠ACB is equal to :

(A) 50º (B) 40º (C) 60º (D) 70°

3. In Figure, if ∠ABC = 20º, then ∠AOC is equal to:

(A) 20º (B) 40º (C) 60º (D) 10º

4. If AB = 12 cm, BC = 16 cm and AB is perpendicular to BC, then the radius of the

circle passing through the points A, B and C is :
(A) 6 cm (B) 8 cm (C) 10 cm (D) 12 cm
5. AD is a diameter of a circle and AB is a chord. If AD = 34 cm, AB = 30 cm, the
distance of AB from the centre of the circle is :
(A) 17 cm (B) 15 cm (C) 4 cm (D) 8 cm

6. ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral such that AB is a diameter of the circle circumscribing it and
∠ADC = 140º, then ∠BAC is equal to:
(A) 80º (B) 50º (C) 40º (D) 30º

7. In Figure, BC is a diameter of the circle and ∠BAO = 60º. Then ∠ADC is equal to :
(A) 30º (B) 45º (C) 60º (D) 120º

8. In Figure, if ∠DAB = 60º, ∠ABD = 50º, then ∠ACB is equal to:

(A) 60º (B) 50º (C) 70º (D) 80º

9. In Figure, ∠AOB = 90º and ∠ABC = 30º, then ∠CAO is equal to:
(A) 30º (B) 45º (C) 90º (D) 60º

10. In the figure, O is the centre of the circle. What is the measure of ∠AOC?
(A) 120° (B) 136° (C) 128° (D) 158°
11. In the figure, O is the centre of the circle Arc BCD subtends an angle of 140 at 0 the
centre. BC is produced to P and CD is joined. Find measure of ㄥ DCP.

12. OD is perpendicular to chord AB of a circle whose centre is O. If BC is a diameter,

prove that CA = 2OD.

13. Two concentric circles are with center O. ABCD are the points of intersection with a
line. If AD = 12 cm and BC = 8 cm find the length of AB, CD, AC and BD.

14. AC and BD are chords of a circle which bisect each other. Prove that: (i) AC and
BD are diameters (ii) ABCD is a rectangle.
15. CASE STUDY

The Government of India is working regularly for the growth of handicapped persons. For these
three STD booths situated at point P, Q and R are as shown in the figure, which are operated by
handicapped persons. These three booths are equidistant from each other as shown in the figure:

On the basis of the above information, solve the following questions:

Q. 1. Which type of ΔPQR in the given figure?

Q. 2. Measure angle ∠QOR.

Q. 3. Find the value of ∠OQR.

Q. 4. Is it true that points P, Q and R lie on the circle?
