Past Tense
Task 1: Complete the following situation by using Past Simple and Past Continuous
Tense.
A plumber (come) __came___ to our house yesterday. He (want) __wanted___ to repair our
washing machine. While he (repair) _was repairing___ the washing machine, I (watch) __was
watching___ the news. Suddenly, I (realize) __realized____ that they (show) ___were
showing__ our street on TV. The reporter said that a car had crashed into a stop sign just before

Task 2: Form sentences in the Past Perfect Tense by changing the verb in brackets.

• Before Sarah ran to Rabia’s house, she __had phoned__(phone) him.

Task 3: Complete the sentences by changing the verbs in brackets into Past Perfect
Progressive.

arrived.

Phrasal Verbs
