Lesson Plan in English-1

I. Objectives
a. Identify basic categories of familiar words;
b. Sort/classify familiar words into basic categories; and
c. Write familiar words into their correct categories.

A. 1. Review: Previous Lesson
1. Drill
The teacher will show different pictures and let the student identify the
describing words.

B. 1. Presentation
TEACHER:
This morning we are going to learn the following:

2. Motivation:
Show the picture of a cat. Ask what is in the picture, and if they have a pet
cat or any pet at home.
-Ask them how they take care of their pets.
-Tell to the pupils there’ a poem entitled “My Cat”
“My Cat”
I have a big cat.
His name is Matt.
His color is white
With an eye that is so bright
I gave him fish to eat.
But sometimes I gave him meat.
And he likes to play round.
Questions:
1. What is the size of the cat?
2. What is the color of the cat?
3. What is his favorite food to eat?
4. What kind of shape does the cat likes to play?
5. Do you take good care of your pet? How?
3. Discussion
a. Unlocking of difficult Words (Let the pupils to read the following
words).

b. Modelling (I DO)
The teacher will demonstrate the poem to read it correctly.
(During “I DO”), there will no interruption like questioning and others, the
teacher will exclusively model the lesson, (Just let the pupils will imitate you
silently).

c. Guided Practice (We Do)


Activity 1-
After teacher’s modelling, the teacher will now show again the
picture and the poem and ask to the pupils to read it again 3x.
Ask the pupils to identify the words that describe the pet cat in the
poem.

likes to eat fish and meat
likes to play objects that are round
Ask the pupils what they have noticed the underlined words.
Tell to the pupils that the following words can be sorted and classified
according to colors, shapes, foods and size.
Example: color: white
shape: round
foods: fish, meat
size: big
Ask the pupils to give some example aside from the given above.
What is SORTING and CLASSIFYING?
Sorting and Classifying is grouping objects according to shapes, size, color, and
food

Treasure Hunting (Picture hunting)

The teacher will group the students into 3 and each group will be
given a task. They will sort and classify the picture according to the proper
categories/group (Group 1-animal, Group2- foods, Group 3- shapes). Each
group will have different pictures. (During the group activity, the teacher will
check the output of every group and the representative of each group will
present their output in front of the class depending on the availability of time).

Prepare a surprise activity for pupils.
Generalization:
Just remember, remember the categories of words is an act of organizing
according to group, class, or category.
