Executing Global Strategies

Individual Project (100%)

Task Requirements
The learning outcomes driven by the case analysis focus on
• Demonstrate a critical awareness of knowledge issues, as the basis for original thinking;
encompassing current processes of knowledge production related to Leadership.
• Critically apply advanced skills required in research, analysis, evaluation of complex ideas,
information, concepts and/or activities related to Leadership.

Students should read the given case Majid Al Futtaim, “Driving Digital Transformation in a Physical World”
and are required to complete the following task requirements.

1. Evaluate the business strategy of Majid Al Futtaim by systemically analyzing the given case and
substantiate your answer by linking the discussion with the theories and concepts discussed in
class/course materials.
2. Critically analyze the challenges Majid Al Futtaim is facing, which can impact its competitiveness.
(including growth and sustainability).
3. Synthesize, propose, and justify comprehensive recommendations (minimum 7) that the CEO Allain
Bejjani needs to consider in leading MAF to be a competitive organisation.

Word count – 3,000 words, include the main body of the report only, i.e. from introduction to conclusion;
10% margin on each end.

Submission – 14 May 2021 via Turnitin Link on portal.

Note: Include a Coverage, Introduction to the case, Evaluation and Analysis, Recommendation, Conclusion,
List of References (minimum 8 academic journals, excluding websites).

This is one of the elements that you are assessed. Although minor grammatical errors and spelling mistakes
may not be penalised, you are expected to submit a logically structured, well-written and properly
referenced report.

• Design a proper cover page.

• Apply Intext citations
• Times new Roman, Arial, Calibri or other easily readable font is acceptable. Nonstandard typefaces
or script are not acceptable.
• Font sizes should be 12 point for text and 10 point for footnotes.
• You need to reference properly for your report. It must be in Harvard system. In-text reference
should be given wherever you cite a source. End of paper reference list should be properly
presented. Improper referencing will lead to a mark loss/ fail.
• You need to carefully read and refine what you have written in your report before submitting the
final report.
• Style should be consistent throughout the document, including preliminaries, end matter, table
headings, figures, and captions.
• There is no formal limit on file size, but you should use an appropriate resolution. High resolution
photographs add little or nothing to academic value and Turnitin may request you to produce a
smaller version if you have produced an unreasonable size of file.
• Appendix – anything that is too long, too much, and is not very relevant to be written in the report,
but you would like your reader to know it as supplementary information, you may put it in the
appendix. Appendix should be placed after the reference list as the last element in your report.

A Good report will tie-in learnings from the readings, relevant and credible academic or business readings,
class discussions, and even your personal experience. A good quality work will should be able to provide an
effective answer using facts, course learnings and relevant and credible sources.

High quality reports are effective, logical, relevant to the discussion on hand and cognizant of the flow of
arguments. Quality does not entail simple repetition of theory, which is already known from the case.
Quality contributions helps learning by synthesizing multiple points of view, clarifying ambiguities, or even
provoking debate. Quality contributions are also exemplified by good written language skills where the
writer takes care to structure the responses logically, clearly and as concisely as possible.
