Title : “EFFECTIVENESS OF SELECTED TEACHING
STRATEGIES TO MILLENNIAL LEARNERS OF THE HIGH
SCHOOL DEPARTMENT AT CHSM”

Researchers : BALBUENA, KIMBERLY MAY P.

Degree : Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English

Adviser : Dr. Ofelia Timbreza Balubar

The study was to determine the effectiveness of selected teaching

strategies to millennial learners used by the faculty of College of the Holy Spirit

Manila particularly to high school students.

The researchers used the descriptive research design. The study utilized

descriptive method which employed questionnaire method. The questionnaire

was used to gather data on the level of effectiveness of the selected teaching

strategies to the millennial learners.

The study involved the selected students from junior and senior high

school of CHSM particularly Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10 and Grade 11.

The study revealed that the respondents said that the high school

teachers “always” used powerpoint presentation (3.68) as a strategy under

Integrating Technology. They “often” used o problem-solving (3.38) as a

strategy under cognitive learning approach, as well as the discussion (3.36)

under Teacher-centered Approach.

v
In terms of level of effectiveness, the respondents said they find it “very

effective” when their teacher demonstrates the activity before they do it as well

as they are more interested to participate in learning (3.55) being the highest,

under Teacher-centered Approach. They also find it “effective” when their

teachers incorporate games and exercises (3.49) which also motivates them,

under Cooperative Learning as a strategy. Moreover, respondents said that they

find it “effective” when the teacher incorporates /show pictures that are related

to the lesson (3.47) under Integrating Technology as a strategy.

It can also be seen that INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY (3.33) got the

highest weighted mean, followed by CONSTRUCTIVISM (3.20) and lastly is the

LEARNER-CENTERED APPROACH (3.15).

In general, the respondents find the selected/indicated teaching strategies

as “effective” (3.06) in the teaching and learning process. This could mean that

most of the selected strategies somehow targets or meets their learning styles or

needs as millennial learners.
