Lollipop Spreadsheet and Chart

Problem: Determine if there is more of one flavor of candy than another in a bag of candy.
Use the following information to create a spreadsheet and perform the required calculations.
Your job is to create a spreadsheet of the flavors and quantity of each flavor, and then create a
pie chart that illustrates what percentage of each flavor makes up the bag of candy. Follow the
instructions below to create your spreadsheet and chart. **HINT** Do not merge any cell
unless the directions indicate to merge.

Lollipops

Flavor Quantity

Cherry 6

Blueberry 5

Orange 4

Grape 7

Raspberry 6

Watermelon 8

1. Starting with cell A1, enter the information from the above table. Save the file as
“pd_Lastname_Firstinitial_Lollipop” in your Excel folder in your student drive.

2. Sort the flavor names in descending order. (Z to A)

3. Merge and center the title. (Lollipops)

4. Use the following function formulas: Auto Sum, Max, Min, and Average. You will need
to write each function name in column A starting with A9 and finishing in A12, and the
answer should appear in column B.

5. Attractively format your spreadsheet cells with different font styles, sizes and colors.
a. Add shading where appropriate.
b. Write your name in cell C1.

6. Create a pie chart with a title, legend and data labels that show the percentage of each
flavor. Do not include the data from your calculations (Auto Sum, Max, Min, and
Average).

7. Move the chart to its own sheet and name it Lollipop Chart and change the tab color to
purple; rename the sheet with the data to Lollipop Data and change the tab color to
yellow.
8. Submit your work into Schoology.
