ITALY

ITALY language: Italy is a multilingual country

The Middle Ages:
The fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD. marked the beginning

into numerous kingdoms and fiefdoms, leading to a lack of political
unity. Italy became a battleground for foreign powers and was
influenced by the Byzantine Empire and the Germanic peoples.
Renaissance
The Renaissance, which began in the
14th century, was a period of cultural
and artistic flourishing in Italy. Cities
such as Florence, Venice and Rome
became centers of art, science and
humanistic thought. Figures such as
Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo
emerged during this time, leaving a
lasting impact on Western culture.
Margherita pizza is one of the most iconic
dishes of Italian gastronomy, originally from
Naples. This dish is characterized by its
simplicity and the quality of its ingredients,
which reflect the colors of the Italian flag:
red, white and green.

PIZZA MARGHERITA
Tradition has it that in June 1889, to honor the queen of Italy,
Margaret of Savoy, chef Raffaele Esposito of the Brandi pizzeria
created the Margherita pizza, its condiments (tomato, mozzarella and
basil) representing the colors of the Italian flag. .
Pizza, although simple, became the queen's favorite food and soon
became popular and crossed borders to become one of the most
appreciated in the world.
Venice's Carnival
The Carnival of Venice dates back to
the 11th century, although its
celebration was officially
recognized in 1296. It originated as
a festival to celebrate the victory of
the Republic of Venice over the
Patriarch of Aquileia in 1162. Over
the centuries, the carnival It became
a time of social liberation, where the
upper and lower classes could mix,
hide their identity, and enjoy life
without the usual social
restrictions.
