Assignment for CLO2 Attainment

CLO2: Analyze the ratings of instrument transformers to ensure reliable operation of


protection system.
Problem Statement: For the distribution transformer, unit-connected generator shown in
Figure determine the value of the secondary resistor that will protect 85% of the winding. You
may assume that a part winding voltage and leakage reactance is proportional to its length.
Consider the system shown in Figure. The distributed generator capacitance
to ground = 0.22 μF/phase; the distributed leads and transformer capacitance to
ground = 0.10 μF/phase; and the surge arrester capacitance = 0.25 μF/phase. Therefore,
the total capacitance = 0.57 μF/phase.
