Introduction to
Drones
• Drones, or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), are
aircraft without a human pilot onboard, controlled

either autonomously or by a remote operator.
• Originated from military applications and evolved
into tools for research, agriculture, surveillance, and
entertainment.

Components
Frame: Provides the structure and stability for all
components.

Propellers: Generate lift by creating air pressure differences.

Motors and ESCs: Brushless motors for high efficiency; ESCs

control motor speed and direction.

Flight Controller: The drone’s “brain,” processing data from

sensors to control flight.

Other Components: Radio transmitter/receiver for

communication and battery for power.

AI and ML in
Drones

AI Functions: Autonomous navigation, obstacle

avoidance, and intelligent decision-making.

2. ML Models: Train drones to recognize objects, optimize

routes, and improve performance over time.

3. Applications: Image and video analysis, intelligent

navigation, and real-time data processing.

IoT in Drones

Definition: IoT enables real-time data exchange

between drones and other connected systems.

Key Benefits:
2.
Remote Monitoring: Operators can control drones from afar.

Data Analytics: Collect environmental data, analyze in real-time,

and optimize tasks

3. Use Cases: Smart farming, logistics coordination, and

infrastructure monitoring.

Drone Control
Simulation using PID Purpose:
Controller Simulate drone behavior under conditions.
Components:
MATLAB for modeling, Simulink for simulations.

PID Controller:
Proportional (P): Reacts proportionally to the current
error, pushing the system toward the desired state.
Integral (I): Reacts to the accumulated error over time,
eliminating steady-state error.
Derivative (D): Reacts to the rate of change of the
error, dampening the system’s response to reduce
overshoot and improve stability.

Conclusion

This project demonstrates the successful integration of

advanced technologies such as AI, ML, and IoT with
quadcopter drone design, control, and operation. The
development of a robust mathematical model and a PID-
based control system enables the precise management of
the drone's flight parameters, including stability,
trajectory, and altitude control. Simulations conducted
with and without external disturbances confirm the
controller's capability to maintain stability and achieve
accurate trajectory tracking.
