Unisphere for PowerMax can be used to discover and present details for a
virtual environment. Unisphere provides information about storage-to-
server relationships for registered VMware vCenter and ESXi servers.
This information is helpful when using Unisphere to troubleshoot and
investigate potential storage-related issues for the environment.
• Use the VMware vCenters and ESXi menu option from the Unisphere
Home screen.
• Select Register and provide a server name or IP address and login
credentials for the vCenter or ESXi server in the dialog box.
Server details that are available in Unisphere for registered vCenter and
ESXi servers include version information, CPU cores, memory, and
number of Virtual Machines. Selecting the server name or clicking the
View all Details link provides more information about Masking Views
(MVs), Virtual Machines (VMs), and performance statistics.
• Masking View path details display hosts, ports, storage, and volumes
associated with the MV.
• Virtual Machine details provide names, power status, CPUs, memory,
Operating System, and advanced details for physical disk information
about the virtual system.
• Performance details for the selected server include Storage Group,
Front-End director, and Front-End port statistics.
Dell Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI) for vSphere Client is a plug-in that
enables vSphere administrators to perform Dell storage-related tasks from
vCenter. VSI supports Dell storage arrays including PowerMax, Unity,
PowerStore, and PowerFlex systems. Tasks that administrators can
perform with VSI include storage provisioning, storage mapping,
managing data protection systems, and viewing information such as
capacity utilization.
Selecting the Dell VSI menu option displays the VSI Dashboard.
Storage resources can also be added from the Dashboard by clicking the
+ symbol for the resource in the Registered Storage Resources panel.
• Rename the datastore and synchronize the volume name under the
General section.
• Scroll down to:
Select an ESXi host in vSphere to use the Dell VSI plug-in to monitor and
manage storage resources for that host.
From the Dell VSI menu, storage configuration information and applying
host best practices options are available.
