NARRATIVE REPORT

The 5-day seminar-workshop on sports coaching and officiating was


organized to equip aspiring and seasoned coaches with updated knowledge,
skills, and strategies for effective coaching and officiating conducted on
November 13-17, 2024, at San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. The seminar brought
together hundreds of participants from various schools, clubs, and organizations.
The event was spearheaded by the Division Sports Committee and featured
renowned sports professionals and trainers as resource speakers.

The seminar commenced with a formal opening program led by the


organizing committee. Sir Rufino Reyes, Division Sports Coordinator, emphasized
the importance of lifelong learning in sports and shared some motivation to win.
Topics on day one revolved around the fundamentals of coaching, including
ethics, leadership, and understanding athletes' physical and psychological needs.
Breakout sessions allowed participants to share their experiences and discuss
challenges they faced as coaches.

Day 2 focused on the fundamental skills in Taekwondo, Taekwondo


teckniques and how to officiate. TM and Resource speakers of Taekwondo Sir
Hanshel Serrot and Aldem Villamor shared insights into crafting game plans,
analyzing opponents' strategies, and how to officiate the game.

Day 3-4 centered on officiating rules and mechanics. Participants were


introduced to the latest updates in international sports regulations. Workshops
on proper hand signals, decision-making under pressure, and communication
with players and fellow officials were conducted. Participants were given
opportunities to officiate mock games, allowing them to apply the concepts they
learned in real-time scenarios.

On the final day, participants underwent practical assessments to gauge


their understanding of the topics covered throughout the seminar. Group
presentations showcased new coaching drills and officiating techniques learned
during the workshop. The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and
closing remarks from Sir Rufino Reyes, who encouraged attendees to aim the
Gold from PAM up to the Palarong Pambansa.
