Search Engine
web search engine is a software system that is designed to search for information on the
World Wide Web. The search results are generally presented in a line of results often
referred to as search engine results pages (SERPs). The information may be a mix of web
pages, images and other type of files.

Types of search Engine
Crawlers: Use automated programs to scan and index the web.
Examples: Google, Bing.
Directories: Human-edited lists of websites organized by category.
Example: (Old) Yahoo Directory.
Hybrids: Combine both crawlers and directories.
Example: Yahoo (before switching to Bing).
Meta: Pull results from multiple search engines.
Examples: Dogpile, MetaCrawler.
Web Addresses
World Wide Web is a network of electronic files stored on millions of computers all around the world.
Hypertext links these resources together. Uniform Resource Locators or URLs are the addresses used to
