Akit
(The scene opens at a train station. Munna is standing with Circuit, waiting for his father, Mr. Hari Prasad and
his mother Mrs sarswati devi, to arrive from the village.)
Munna: (Nervously to Circuit) Circuit, my dad has no idea what I actually do in Mumbai. He still thinks I’m in
college.
Circuit: Arre, don’t worry, Munna Bhai! Just tell him something impressive. (winks)
(Mr. Hari Prasad and Mrs. Sarswati devi enters, suitcase in hand, looking around until he spots Munna.)
Hari Prasad: (calling out) Murli! There you are, my boy! How’s life in the big city, eh?
Munna: (nervously) Oh, fantastic, Mummy & Papa! I’m actually… uh… I’m running a… charitable hospital!
Hari Prasad: (raising an eyebrow) A charitable hospital? You, a doctor? (pauses, then slaps Munna) Don’t joke
around with me! Be honest!
Munna: (flustered) Okay, okay! (mumbling) Sort of… a charitable… doctor, maybe?
Hari Prasad: (sarcastic) Oh, very charitable! Listen, son, forget this charity nonsense. I want you to be a real
doctor. Earn some proper money so your mother can brag to her friends that her son earns lakhs!
Sarswati Devi : yes , you will have earn smth otherwise I won’t be able to stand in front of my frnds .
Munna: (straightens up) Alright, Mummy & Papa, I’ll do it. I’ll become a real doctor—from the best college in
Mumbai!
Circuit: (pumps fist) Yes, bro! And I’ll be your Assistant Doctor!
Hari Prasad: (shaking his head) God help us. (walks away)
(Munna and Circuit watch him go, then exchange determined looks.)
Munna: (dramatic) Alright, Circuit. Tomorrow, we’re getting into that college!
(Scene opens in Dr. Asthana’s office. He’s reviewing papers when Munna and Circuit barge in, both wearing
lab coats.)
Munna: Good morning, Dr. Asthana! We’re the new admissions for this term.
Circuit: (confidently) Oh, we’re definitely on the list, sir. Dr. Murli Prasad and Assistant Dr. Circuit Sharma.
Dr. Asthana: (sighs) Alright, then—(squints at badges) You’re both wearing each other’s coats.
(They quickly swap coats, then stand straight, acting as if nothing happened.)
Dr. Asthana: (rolls eyes) Fine, fine. I suppose you’re eager to get started. Let’s see what you’re made of.
(In the dissection room, Munna is standing by a “body” lying on a table. Dr. Asthana observes, arms crossed.)
Dr. Asthana: Alright, Dr. Murli. Let’s start with a basic dissection (hands him a scalpel) and till the time
Circuit you go get a patient named Naresh .
(Munna raises the scalpel, but as he gets closer to the body, he starts to sway. He stares at the “blood” on the
scalpel, then faints, dropping to the floor.)
Dr. Asthana: (panics) Oh no, what happened to him? (bends down to check on Munna) Can someone help?
(The “cadaver” opens his eyes, sits up, and starts giving Munna CPR as Dr. Asthana stares, dumbfounded.)
(Munna stirs, sits up, sees Dr. Asthana watching, and quickly lies back down, pretending nothing happened.)
(Circuit returns with Naresh, who is seated in a wheelchair. Nurse Varsha Rutu follows behind them.)
Nurse Varsha: (to Munna and Circuit) Naresh here has been paralyzed for 12 years. He hasn’t moved a muscle,
not even his eyelids.
Dr. Asthana: (holding a flashlight) Look, even if I point this light directly in his eyes, his pupils won’t respond.
(Dr. Asthana shines the light in Naresh’s eyes. Suddenly, Naresh blinks and slaps Dr. Asthana’s hand away.)
Naresh: (grumbles, slumping back down) Right, right… paralyzed… (closes eyes and goes still again)
Dr. Asthana: (flustered) Munna, Circuit—why don’t you… join my class for now?
(The classroom is filled with students. Munna and Circuit are seated among others: Swami (the nerd), Devi (the
kind-hearted one), and Visha (the Gen Z realist). Dr. Asthana is at the front, lecturing.)
Dr. Asthana: Now, class, let’s hear why each of you wants to be a doctor.
Devi: (stands) I want to be a doctor so I can be a good friend to my patients and help them heal.
Visha: (rolls eyes) That’s sweet, but no one asked you to play the lead in a feel-good movie. (smirks) Honestly,
I’m here for the money. I don’t see the point in all that "Laadki Behen Yojna" business you’re planning, Devi.
Visha: (shrugging) Sure, but you can’t make much with all that charity. I’m here to make bank.
Dr. Asthana: (nodding) Visha has a point. We’re here to make money, after all!
Swami: (stands up, gives a sarcastic smile, then sits back down without a word)
(In a hospital room, Zaheer is lying in bed. Dr. Asthana turns to Munna and Circuit.)
Dr. Asthana: Your final test is to cure Zaheer here of his stomach cancer.
Circuit: (impatient) Seriously, man, stop with the extra footage! Let’s wrap up the story here! (gives Zaheer a
playful slap)
Munna: (smiling) Alright, Naresh, here’s your medicine. (hands him a tablet) Just take this and you’ll be
perfectly fine.
(Munna gives Naresh a big hug and pats him on the back.)
Dr. Asthana: (suspicious) Munna… what tablet did you just give him?
Munna: (shrugs) Oh, it’s just a Mentos candy! You see, Doc, you just have to tell people they’ll be fine. That’s
all they really need!
(Dr. Asthana stands there, stunned, then slowly starts to laugh, shaking his head.)
Dr. Asthana: (chuckling) You two… are absolutely unbelievable. (hands them both diplomas) Here—take
these degrees and get out of my hospital!
The End
