1.0 OBJECTIVE:
To lay down a Procedure for operation & cleaning of Dust Collector.

2.0 SCOPE:
This SOP is applicable for the operation and cleaning of Dust Collector
.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
Operator/Officer / Executive – Engineering

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:

6.0 PROCEDURE:
6.1 Operation of dust collector:

6.1.1 Before operation of dust collector check and ensure that power supply is available at starter
(DOL Starter).

6.1.2 Check and ensure that filter/ cartridge installed in dust collector is in healthy condition by
inspecting visually.

6.1.3 Check and ensure that damper (at inlet) should be in open condition.

6.1.4 Operate the dust collector by pressing push button and ensure that there is no abnormal noise
from dust collector unit.

6.1.5 Check and ensure the rotation of motor, it should rotate in the specified direction i.e clockwise.

6.1.6 Check and ensure air pressure, it should be approx. 06 kg/cm2 and if not then set the pressure at
06kg/cm2 on pressure regulator.

6.1.7 Check for the functioning of reverse pulse jet cleaning mechanism and operation of pulse jet
timer and solenoid valve i.e Solenoid valve should operate at fixed intervals and the air should
be purged in the dust collector. The pulse jet timer should give pulses at fixed set intervals.

6.2 Dust collector cleaning:


6.2.1 Filters of dust collector shall be cleaned with a frequency of monthly as per filter cleaning
schedule.

6.2.2 Cleaning schedule of dust collector shall be prepared as per annexure –II.

6.2.3 Clean the Collector filter and exhaust filter with compressed air and remove accumulated
powder in the collecting basket / bin.
6.2.4 Clean the blower blades with compressed air, and mop the inner surface of dust collector with
wet cloth twice.
6.2.5 Clean the dust collector with a frequency of one month and when required.

6.2.6 Filter cleaning shall be done monthly as per Annexure-I” Filter Cleaning Schedule of Dust
Collector”.
6.2.7 Maintain the cleaning record as per Annexure – I “Dust Collector Cleaning Record”.

6.3 If any failure is observed in dust collector unit, then same shall be addressed through breakdown SOP
and same shall be communicated with user/concern department personnel’s.

6.4 Preventive Maintenance of dust collector shall be carried out with a frequency of 03 months ± 7days as
per checklist.

6.5 Collected powder in dust collector bin shall be disposed as per SOP.
