Assessment 1

1. What do you think is the greatest challenge to Philippine leaders today? If you were the President of
the Philippines, how would you lead? Cite at least three (3) major problems you would solve first

 Poverty

Hunger and malnutrition are the results of poverty. It is also the main source of criminal activity. As
poverty rises, especially as a result of the pandemic's effects, more people become desperate. This
means that more Filipinos will turn to criminal activities, raising the crime rate.

To solve this problem, I'll make a program which offers a job to all unemployed people here in our
country. I'll also offer them a free workshop and pangkabuhayan package so that they will learn and
have an income every day.

 Teenage Pregnancy

This is one of the most serious issues confronting today's Filipino youngsters. Our country's economic
prosperity may be harmed by a high teen pregnancy rate. They will have less income since they are less
likely to complete higher education.
One of the potential solutions for this problem is to develop a community-based strategy that
incorporates school sex education with parent, religious, and community groups. We also need to
improve adolescent contraception knowledge. To lower low birth weight kids and school dropout rates,
we must provide counselling, medical, psychological, educational, and nutritional support to both the
mother and father.

 Corruption

We are the fourth most corrupt country in the Southeast Asia region. Corruption causes an increase in
inequality by disrupting the equitable distribution of resources. Additionally, investors will lose faith in
our country. As a result, our economic growth will be constrained.

To address this issue, the BIR must conduct an annual evaluation of all public employees. The problem is
that the majority of politicians in the Philippines are wealthy and have businesses. Even Metro Manila's
poorest mayor has a net worth of P3.31 million. As a result, the BIR should concentrate its efforts not
just on small business owners and professionals, but also on politicians and the enterprises that they
own entirely or partially.

Assessment 2

Are leaders born or made? Justify your answer.

The best estimates from studies reveal that leadership is one-third born and two-thirds made. The
ability to effectively lead, motivate and direct a group of people – whether in business, sport, or politics
– requires a complex set of skills, which are usually taught through experiences, self-development, and
subsequent training. Expecting a person to be born a fully developed, complete Leader capable of
influencing and leading their team makes no sense based on what we know about group dynamics.
Thus, the leaders are made.
Activity 1

Recall your earliest experience of “leading.” Draft a story. What details do you remember—who was
there, what was the occasion, what words were said, how did you feel, and other details. What do you
think is your leadership style?

When I was in grade 12, I became a servant leader of a club namely the Outreach Club. We conducted a
series of programs, for instance, ' The Adopt a Child'. I must say it was a very nice experience because it
was my first time leading a certain club. Also, it was my first time to have a speech in front of many
people. I was scared at first but then my members are there to support me and remind me that I have to
be firm for our club. Fortunately, I overcome that problem and that is because of the support of my
members.

In that experience, I learned a lot of things. For example, as a leader, your only goal is not only to give
instructions to your members but also you must help them harness their skills and help them grow as
individuals who can become effective leaders in the future.

My leadership style is democratic leadership because I love hearing their fascinating ideas and plans for
our club. This made me think that they care for our club. I also love considering their ideas because it
truly helps our club in many ways.
