1. From the PPSTs, the Southeast Asia Teachers Competency Standards, the
ECCE Teacher Competency Framework, and the two TEDx videos you
viewed, what competencies do a great teacher possess?
From the PPSTs (Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers), Southeast Asia
Teachers Competency Standards, ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education)
Teacher Competency Framework, and insights from TEDx videos, the competencies
that the teacher possess is that understanding a content, a great teacher has a
profound understanding of the subject matter and can explain complex concepts in an
accessible manner. The Instructional techniques they employ diverse teaching methods
and strategies to cater to various learning styles and needs.
2. Are these competencies limited only to professional competencies?
No, these competencies go beyond professional skills. While a deep understanding of
content and diverse instructional techniques are vital, great teaching also involves
personal qualities like empathy, adaptability, and the ability to inspire and motivate
students. These personal traits enhance the effectiveness of professional competencies
and create a more impactful learning experience.
3.For a teacher to be great, is it enough to possess the professional competencies to
plan a lesson, execute a lesson plan, manage a class, assess learning, compute and
report grades? Explain your answer.
No, while these competencies are essential, they aren't enough for a teacher to be truly
great. Effective teaching also involves empathy, creativity, adaptability, and the ability to
inspire and engage students. Delving into these softer skills can elevate a teacher from
competent to exceptional.
4. For a teacher to be great, which is more important – personal qualities or
professional qualities?
Both are crucial, but personal qualities often tip the scale. While professional
competencies provide the framework for effective teaching, personal qualities like
empathy, passion, and adaptability deeply impact student engagement and learning
outcomes. The ultimate effectiveness of a teacher often hinges on how well they
connect with and inspire their students
5.Who are the teachers that we remember most? Why?
We tend to remember teachers who leave a lasting impression because of their
enthusiasm, compassion, and exceptional ability to relate to students. These educators
make learning enjoyable and provide support that goes beyond just academics. Their
impact often reaches beyond the classroom, significantly affecting our lives and
attitudes.

1. Which personal traits do I possess?
One of my strengths is being a good listener. I love engaging in conversation and
humor, and I make a supportive friend, open to discussing personal issues with
empathy and respect. However, I recognize that I lack patience and strong leadership
skills. I struggle with patience and often rely on others rather than leading effectively.
2. Which professional competencies am I strongly capable of demonstrating?
My key professional competencies skills include effective collaboration, maintaining a
professional appearance, strong communication, creating a safe learning environment,
and utilizing various teaching aids.
3. In which competencies do I need to develop more?
I think the competencies, I need to develop more are my lesson plan designing, and a
full commitment to the profession.
