E-Safety 8-c
Internet safety, also known as online safety, cyber safety and electronic safety,
refers to the policies, practices and processes that reduce the harms to people
that are enabled by the use of information technology.
Digital citizenship:
Digital citizenship is the responsible and respectful use of technology to engage online, find
reliable sources, and protect and promote human rights. Those who use the internet regularly
and effectively are digital citizens.
Digital resilience:
Digital resilience is the ability to prevent, respond and quickly recover from events that have the
potential to disrupt.
These events include ransomware attacks, unauthorized data access, and non-cyber incidents
like natural disasters, power outages, and equipment failures.

Cyber-Bullying: Cyber-bullying is bullying that occurs online, typically by sending messages of
an intimidating or threatening nature. The act of cyber-bullying can cause anxiety, depression.

Fake news:
Fake news is deliberately made-up stories or images to make people believe something that
isn’t true. Others have some truth to it but may be misleading or including some false
information. To avoid fake news, we can:
1) Check reputable sites.
2) Check the Web URL address.
3) Check if you are familiar with the organization and if they are reputable.
Live streaming:
A live stream is a real-time video shared over the Internet. Most social networks now offer live
streaming options that include the possibility to interact with viewers, who can submit written
comments and questions throughout the broadcast. There are a few risks of live streaming such
as not knowing who is watching, letting people know where you live or viewers not being
friendly so we should always try to stay safe.
Password Protection:
A password is a secret word, phrase or combination of words that leads us to an account or
protected information. A strong password is one not easy to guess and secure.

3. Watch out for links and attachments.
4. Check to see if the site is secure.
5. Consider additional protection.
