As with all goods, even a high quality mattress will wear out, losing its elasticity and firmness.
ASOCAMA, the Spanish association for bedding materials, recommends replacing
mattresses after 10 years of use.
Some countries, notably in the Caribbean require mattresses to be replaced every 5 years.
At Ecus, we have found that hotels prefer to change their mattresses more often, even though our
products can last for over 15 years. We believe that this is a clear sign that today’s hotels take their
guests’ experience to be a priority considering the relatively low cost.

We have produced an infographic for each of our products to share our experience with you.
On aggregate: The average time of innovation is between 7 and 9 years. The cost per day of a new
mattress is below 5 euro cents.

We have also found that that the more stars a hotel has, the more complex the mattress.
For this reason a hotel of 4 or 5 stars tend to purchase a Multispring mattress with the latest generation
of Visco Active memory foam or latex.
