The team you’ll be part of


Strategy and Technology (S&T) lays the path for Nokia's future technology innovation
and identifies the most promising areas for Nokia to create new value. S&T manages an
internal incubator, which takes innovative new solutions and helps to commercialize
them as new businesses. Nokia AIMS is a dynamic startup within the incubator,
revolutionizing the logistics industry with cutting-edge hardware-as-a-service solutions.
Our innovative autonomous drones streamline warehouse operations, delivering
unparalleled efficiency and precision. Computer vision-based analytics are a key
component of the value we deliver to customers. We are seeking a ML Data Engineer
Co-op for Spring 2025 to bolster our Machine Learning & Image Analytics team.

What you will learn and contribute to


As a ML Data Engineer Co-op, you will be responsible for computer vision and ML
data pipelines for analytics, training models and implementations into production. An
ideal candidate for this role would have 1 to 2 years experience working for a large
technology company or startup in a ML or computer vision-related field. We will consider
applicants without industry experience if they can demonstrate good understanding of
ML and/or computer vision concepts and possess hands-on skills.

As part of our team, you will:

• Build image and video based deep learning models for scene understanding on
images from drones flying in indoor environments.
• Be responsible for end-to-end deep learning and computer vision operations,
including hands-on coding, training and deployment of large machine learning
models.
• Integrate ML software into a larger Kubernetes-based software platform.
• Manage end-to-end MLOps pipelines including data ingestion and curation,
model training and deployment, to model monitoring.
• Work closely with the UI team to present results of ML and computer vision-
based analytics to customers.

Your skills and experience


You have:
• Project/coursework experience in image processing and deep learning (image
classification, object recognition, segmentation, etc.)
• Versatile coding skills including expertise in common AI/ML frameworks and
libraries (PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV/Pillow, Numpy, etc.)
• Experience training AI/ML models on large production datasets
• Experience/understanding of RESTful API design and database management
• Understanding and experience with software testing methodologies
• High EQ, communications and influencing skills.
• Able to work independently and prioritize between multiple tasks.
• Problem-solving skills, highly motivated, and team player.
It would be nice if you also had:
• 1 to 2 years industry experience in ML or computer vision.
• Ability to deploy software on Kubernetes clusters, including autoscaling of ML
inference services
• Experience with any of the following: 3D vision, multimodal (vision-
language/vision-language-action) deep learning models, ML serving in
production (Seldon Core/TorchServe/etc.)

Education
Currently a candidate for Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering, Statistics or a related discipline from a leading college/university.
