A Guide to Your Results

Understanding E:Vision and Your Transcript

Credit Levels* Attempts


Level 3 Access Higher education access level 1 Indicates a First Attempt
Level 4 Certificate Equivalent to first year full time undergraduate standard 2 Indicates a Second Attempt (after resit)
Level 5 Diploma Equivalent to second year full time undergraduate standard 3 Indicates a Third Attempt (after retake)
Level 6 Degree Equivalent to third year full time undergraduate standard 4 Indicates a Fourth Attempt (after retake resit)
Level 7 Masters Equivalent to postgraduate taught standard, assuming Honours 5 Indicates a Fifth Attempt (after second retake)
degree competencies 6 Indicates a Sixth Attempt (after second retake resit)
*Levels 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 were expressed as Levels 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively prior to the 2012/13 academic year

Aegrotat means that the Awards Board has conferred an unclassified award because it believes there is evidence that you would have achieved the appropriate level of
knowledge, understanding and skills had it not been for illness or other valid cause. You have the right to refuse an aegrotat award. We shall proceed on the basis that you
will accept the aegrotat award unless you write to your Director of Studies to say that you wish to be assessed.

Modules

A module comprises one or more assessment elements, each of which has a qualifying mark and each result usually contributes to the
overall module mark. Students who have not achieved the qualifying mark in each assessment element are deemed to have failed the
module and are referred for re-assessment in the failed element(s), even if the aggregate mark for the module is 40% or higher.

Edexcel grades are shown on your final transcript but will appear as undergraduate grades on your e-Vision record.
AE Appeal upheld with re-attendance (retake module with attendance, attempt will not be incremented)
AU Appeal upheld (result incomplete pending next submission of element(s) allowed further attempt)
EX Extension (result incomplete due to an agreed extension)
F Fail, with no further resits
FC Fail overall although element qualifying
mark(s) passed. Compensation may apply.
FR Fail with resit pending
HE Held (result held for investigation e.g. allegation of plagiarism etc.)
IN Intermitting (result record closed pending return from intermission and re-enrolment on module)
LS Late Submission (element submitted late up to 5 working days, mark capped to pass mark if
applicable)
MA Mitigation Accepted (result incomplete pending next submission of mitigated element(s); see overleaf)
ME Mitigation Accepted with re-attendance (retake module with attendance, attempt will not be incremented; see overleaf)
MN Mitigation Accepted following Non Submission (result incomplete pending next submission of mitigated element(s); see overleaf)
MS Mitigation Accepted following Submission (result incomplete pending next submission of mitigated element(s); see overleaf)
NS Fail due to Non Submission/No Show
RA Reassessment with attendance (retake module with attendance, attempt will be incremented and capped at 40%
with no further resits)
RP Replace module after 2nd attempt failure (replacement module will be at 1st attempt)

RT Retake module after 2 attempt failure (retake module with attendance, attempt will be incremented and capped at 40%
with one further resit allowed)
W Withdrawn from module (result record closed with no further attempt allowed)

Mitigation
Outcomes of mitigation claims are displayed on e-Vision. The record for each module will show one of the following 12 outcomes:
