Virtual Production Assignment

THE LAST BROADCAST: -

- Nishant Saha MAFM Sem – IV Vfx

1) PRE-PRODUCTION:

Virtual Set Design:

We'll start by designing the spaceship cockpit using 3D modeling software. The cockpit will be
cluttered with blinking consoles, flickering lights, and a large window with a view of space. We'll pay
close attention to detail to create an immersive environment that enhances the storytelling. The
design will be realistic and immersive, providing the backdrop for our story.

Storyboard and Shot List:

We'll create a storyboard and shot list to plan out each scene. This will help us visualize how each
shot will look within the virtual environment and ensure that the story flows smoothly.
Pre-Visualization (Previz):

Using the storyboard and shot list, we'll create a pre-visualization of the entire film. This will allow us
to see how each shot will look within the virtual environment and make any necessary adjustments
before moving to production.

Background Assets:

We'll gather or create all the necessary background assets, including textures, models, and
animations, to bring the virtual environment to life.
3d elements which are present in the assets library or downloaded via quickel bridge like boxes and
animated playthroughs.

2) PRODUCTION:

Virtual Production Setup:

For filming, we'll use a virtual production setup that combines live-action footage with the
virtual environment. This setup will include:

LED walls or screens to display the virtual environment in real-time.

Cameras equipped with motion tracking technology to capture live-action footage and
synchronize it with the virtual environment.
Real-time rendering software to generate the virtual environment and integrate it
seamlessly with the live-action footage.
Filming:
The actors will perform against the LED walls/screens, with the virtual environment
displayed behind them. The cameras will capture the live-action footage, while motion
tracking technology ensures that the virtual environment moves and reacts in real-time to
the actors' movements.

3) POST PRODUCTION:

Integration of Live-Action Footage and Virtual Environment:

In post-production, we'll integrate the live-action footage with the virtual environment. This will
involve:
Compositing the live-action footage with the virtual environment to create a seamless blend
between the two.
Adding visual effects, such as lighting and shadows, to further enhance the realism of the virtual
environment.
Fine-tuning the integration to ensure that the live-action footage and virtual environment are
perfectly synchronized. In software’s like nuke/after effects.
Sound Design and Mixing:
We'll add sound effects, music, and dialogue to enhance the overall atmosphere of the film. This will
involve:

Recording and editing dialogue to match the action on screen.

Adding sound effects, such as alarms and background noise, to create a realistic audio environment.
Mixing the audio elements to ensure that they complement the visuals and create a cohesive
viewing experience. Inside software’s like premiere pro/avid.
Color Grading and Final Touches:

Finally, we'll color grade the film to enhance the mood and tone. We'll also make any final
adjustments to ensure that the film looks polished and professional. This includes adding any
additional visual effects or corrections needed to perfect the film. Inside software’s like DaVinci
resolve.

By following these steps, we'll create a visually stunning and immersive short film using virtual
production techniques.
