Lenovo Linux Diagnostics - Bootable Generator for Windows is a tool that can be
used on a Microsoft Windows OS-based computer to create Lenovo Linux Diagnostics -
Bootable USB.
Lenovo Linux Diagnostics - Bootable USB can be booted by itself and tests harware
devices in Lenovo ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, ThinkStation, ThinkServer, and IdeaPad
systems. It can be used on your Lenovo computer regardless of what OS your system
has.

Lenovo Linux Diagnostics - Bootable Generator for Windows is available in the
following languages:

DOWNLOADING THE FILE
=================================
1. Click the file links to download the files from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and a directory in which to save the downloaded
files.
To create a Bootable USB on Windows, download the bootable diagnostics image from
the Lenovo website.
The instructions for downloading the image can be found on the same webpage of
where you find this readme file.
1. Copy the LenovoBootableGenerator.exe file and the image file (for example,
linux-bootable-cd-4708081.iso) into one folder
2. Plug the USB Key into your computer
3. Log in to Windows and launch command window with Administrator privilege
There is one suggestion of launching command window with admin privilege:
3.1 Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
3.2 Right-click Command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
3.3 If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action
it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
Alternative method:
3.1 Click Start.
3.2 In the Start Search box, type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.
3.3 If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action
it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
4. Navigate to the folder where the you copied the two files run this command:
LenovoBootableGenerator.exe --create -l <Drive Title> -u <Drive Letter> -f <Image
name>
Where
*<-l> is the new name of the USB key (limit of 11 characters)
*<-u> is the drive letter assigned to the USB key
*<-f> is the name of the image
For example:
If the USB key you has been assigned as Drive "I" by Windows, and the image you
downloaded is "linux-bootable-cd-4708081.iso", and you name the USB key "bootable",
the command would read as follows:
5. At the prompt, type "y" and press the "Enter" key to format the USB Key and
start to create the bootable diagnostics tool
Other Switches
* The SATA Controller Mode needs to be set to AHCI in the system BIOS if the system
doesn't use UEFI BIOS for storage device related diagnostic functions
