Nowadays children mostly spend time playing computer games
rather than sports.
Is it a positive or negative development?
These days, computer games have become more popular than sports among children. While playing video games may offer some benefits, I strongly believe this trend has negative implications.
Many people believe that allowing children to play computer games
is essential because it helps develop skills like problem-solving. A game like Among Us is a great example, as it requires children to critically analyze situations and consider all aspects before making decisions. These problem-solving skills gained from gaming can be applied to real-life scenarios, giving them an edge over their peers both in and outside of school. What’s more, parents feel less worried knowing their children are safe and sound at home, especially considering the dangers outside, such as inexperienced drivers who could put lives at risk.
Despite these concerns, I believe the trend of children spending more
time on computer games has more negative impacts on children’s overall development. One significant issue is their health. Excessive screen time reduces exposure to sunlight, which is essential for vitamin D and impacts bone and teeth growth negatively. Additionally, a sedentary lifestyle can lead to obesity which is a major problem in the world nowadays. It might eventually lead to stress and depression in their near future as it is quite a hurdle to overcome. Furthermore, being isolated from others can make children shy and unsociable, making it harder for them to make new friends later on. In contrast, children who regularly engage in sports tend to have better physical health and enhanced social skills.
In conclusion, while computer games offer some benefits, such as
skill development and safety, I believe they have more negative effects, particularly on children’s health and social life.
