Water in most countries but especially here in the US is accessible and not just any
water but clean water. Clean water in a first world country is not just accessible but is a human
right to US citizens. Flint Michigan went years without clean water and to insult to injury they
went without it due a government decision. Flint is a perfect example why environmental
Those who were in this interviewed in Flint in this video spoke about how not access to
clean water having has changed their lives in more than one way. It went beyond not having
clean drinking water or not having clean shower water. Those were important things that
effected their day to day. However, it affected their everyday health! Adults struggled with
physical and mental health conditions, and children who were perfectly healthy had started to
receive health effects that would alter their growth. Families had to drive to get to water
distributions.
The false promises that those who live in Flint with through made it extremely had to
ever trust the government again. When the government did start to make changes, it started
out it moved at an extremely slow rate. They made many false promises and took no
accountability for the unclean water being their mistake. President Obama came and spoke,
income and houses majority of people of color as well. Which is why it was easy to overlook for
such a large amount of time. The people who live there do not the financial resources to call for
change. They have been overlooked for reasons they cannot change or cannot help.
