Project Share and Count
Project Share and Count
The basics of learning include the two most fundamental factors of learning:
literacy and numeracy. After being hit by COVID 19 Pandemic, it turned out to be
the major problems of schools. As the pupils come back to attend face-to-face classes,
teachers found out that it has been a rampant issue among all grade levels. From
being taught in school by their parents or guardians for two consecutive years,
without teachers’ supervision, the learners’ knowledge and ability towards numeracy
and literacy were found out to be left behind with their supposed to be Grade levels.
This school year is said to be a transition year for it ends the distance learning
and begins another chapter of face-to-face education. As literacy and numeracy
problems emerge, the school designed programs and projects to lessen if not eradicate
the issues. And from there rose the Project SHARE (Supporting Holistic development
of learners through Activities to be conducted in Reading to Edify learning
achievement) and PROJECT COUNT (Conducting activities for Upholding Numeracy
and Transformational Skills towards the attainment of life-long mathematical skills)
for Numeracy.
On the first quarter of the school year both the reading and numeracy ability of
the pupils had been tested that given negative results for both. Reading in both
Filipino and English are struggles among most learners specially for lower graders. At
the same time, a test for four fundamental operations were given to the them that also
resulted to failing scores.
Project SHARE was
established to make the
pupils develop the
reading habits during
off class hours.
The data below shows the vivid representation on the number of non-numerates
on pre-implementation and post implementation of the projects
Presently, the pupils’ performance in both skills are improving. From a total of
38 non-numerates which is now 6 non numerates and from 7 non-readers to 1 at
present. A huge difference was obtained. With continuous guidance and supervision
of the school heads and teachers and through the follow ups at home with the parents,
the school is very hopeful for a brighter and better PAPMES.
