TEST 1 SOLUTIONS

Number 1.
Step 1: Postulate a line segment PE and let E be the
midpoint making line segments DE and CE
equate to ½
Step 2: Since Point P is the center of the square,
chord PE will also become ½
Step 3: Drop a perpendicular line from center of
the circle to chord PE, this perpendicular
line passing the chord center will bisect
chord PE (theorem 3)
Step 4: Form the rectangle with the points F, G, P, O
I and H to therefore conclude that line segment
GI and line segment ID will also be 1/4. We can also conclude that line segment AF is
1/2 as it is half the square naman…

Step 5: We form a right triangle with the points ADE and calculate for the measurement of AE

Step 6: Extend the line segment AD to the other side of the circle in which we will call A’
We next connect point A’ to point E to make a 45 45 90 triangle with ½ each side
Step 7: Draw the 2 line segments shown above which are the radius of the circle, you can see
that the angle shares the same intercepted arc as the inscribed angle we made at step 6
so meaning that the measurement of the central angle formed by the 2 radius is 90 also

Step 8: Calculate the 2 radius using Pythagorean theorem and you get the radius of √10/4

Number 2:

Step 1: So to find the length we draw the radius from the center of the circle to the edge of the
rectangle forming a right triangle

Step 2: So since we cant find the radius there with the given we draw another radius towards
the square with sides 1x1 on the left side

Step 3: Calculate using the Pythagorean theorem on the left side with its opposite being 1 unit
and adjacent being (17+1) unit

Step 4: After that we then have a radius of √325 in which is also congruent to the other radius
we formed on step 1 (its like the law of radiis)

Step 5: We calculate Pythagorean theorem on that side of the semicircle in which it gives
us the value of 6 for its length

Step 6: We have the length of 6 units and the width of 34 units we multiply that giving us
a total of 204 which is our answer (304 nakabutang sa picture but its 204!!!)
