INTERNSHIPS AT STATCON ELECTRONICS AND STATCON POWTECH

Statcon Electronics India Limited is a company specializing in the field of power electronics since its
inception, with its roots going back to 1986. It has held prestigious clientele both nationally and
internationally, with ABB, Alstom, BHEL, Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Railways, GAIL, and Indian
Oil, to name a few. SEIL has a workforce of ~350 employees and a diverse portfolio, spanning 4 sectors –
Railways, Power, Defence and Clean energy. The clean energy efforts of this group were spun off as a
new company called Statcon Powtech in 2015. Powtech focuses on solar energy, electric mobility and
green hydrogen technologies. The company is headquartered in Noida with satellite offices in Kolkata
and Hyderabad and 150+ service centers all over India.

We are looking for sharp individuals who are interested in working on hands-on projects in both
technical and non-technical space, at our Noida offices. The technical projects can serve as both
internships and B.Tech projects. We encourage publishing non-confidential research done as part of
your work done with us in reputed journal and conference papers.

The interview process will focus on key technical skills in one of the following domains: Embedded/IoT,
Power Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Machine Learning/AI, General
Programming, or Sales & Marketing. If selected, you will be assigned projects similar to (but not
necessarily the same as) the ones listed below:

T1 Automation of electrical system test jigs using an embedded system Embedded C

- entails building an electromechanical system that would automatically lock programming, Circuit
into Statcon’s products and conduct a series of electrical tests at various load design, 3D CAD
conditions, ascertain pass/fail status for each test and communicate that to a
desktop.
T2 Development of an unmanned aerial vehicle for asset inspection and Embedded C
surveillance programming, Circuit
- entails building of a robot that can fly over industrial and agricultural assets design, 3D CAD
while capturing their images/videos. These then need to be extracted and
analyzed for delivering valuable insights to customers.
T3 Development of a system for tracking specific objects within geo-location of a Embedded C
user programming, Circuit
- entails building a tracking chip that can be placed on the desired objects and design, 3D CAD
communicate with mobile phones. The phone should receive a notification via
an app when the object gets close (within a few meters) of it.
T4 Machine Learning for algorithm improvement for embedded systems based Python, ML
on field data frameworks such as
- entails gathering performance characteristics of devices deployed in the field, PyTorch
data manipulation and training, and optimization of device performance based
on prediction of loading conditions on the system.
T5 Electrical circuit simulation for operational PCBs MATLAB/Octave/SciP
- entails simulation of electrical circuits for which field testing and integration y, LT Spice
testing has been done.
T6 Development of software and integration test framework for embedded Embedded C, Circuit
systems design
-entails developing unit tests for embedded C code and including them in build
pipelines (CI/CD testing), as well as development of integration tests with
hardware, which could include design of electrical circuits for test automation.
T7 Development of a Battery Management System for a 24 V Lithium battery Embedded C, Circuit
- entails learning about the 48 V lithium battery management system software analysis
that has already been developed, and developing the software for 24 V system.
T8 Addition of remote debugging capabilities for embedded systems Embedded C
- entails adding WiFi/GPRS communication to embedded systems, OTA (over
the air) firmware updates, and logging of error codes remotely. The project
could be expanded to include development of post-processing scripts for the
collected field data.
T9 Time motion studies and optimization of production floor processes Knowledge of EE and
- entails studying our current processes related to PCB and transformer ME aspects of
manufacturing, fitting, wiring etc. and identifying and improving the same manufacturing
using modern methods of manufacturing.
