TECHNOLOGY: The Evaluation of the Influence of

Technology’s Advancement in Education

Joannah Marie A.Pekitpekit 11- Mapagmatyag

“Technology can become the wings that will allow the educational
world to fly farther and faster than ever before – if we allow it” is a quote
stated by Jenny Arledge which expresses the vast potential of technology to
grow and improve, specifically in education. In our generation, technology is
considered to be the backbone of innovation, shaping how we learn,
communicate, and grow. Technology can not only help us create great
inventions, but also help in making our daily lives easier by its accessibility
and also improve our educational standards for learning and practices.
Today, I would like us to explore how technology can be used wisely, elevate
educational standards, making learning accessible and effective, while at the
same time, giving you caution about its responsible use.
Technology is indeed a well-known tool that helps transformed
education. Technology enables us to innovate, easing daily tasks and making
resources readily accessible. It can also help in education, like pertaining to
A.I or Artificial Intelligence, building or making ways for educators to try out
several other methods for teaching and enabling students to get access to
information related to their studies. Imagine a world where every student,
regardless of location, can learn with the support of readily-accessible
technology. That’s the power we hold today in this fast-pacing economy, in
this time and era.
However, this same power also present several challenges. Its
perpetual accessibility may result to tempt students like us to rely on its
capabilities, which may limit our growth. This is heavily supported by a study
where it shows that over 86% of students used Al for school works, to which
many do so regularly. This alarming dependence on technology reduces the
engagement of actual learning and critical learning. Simply banning devices
won’t end this crisis, rather, we can aim to implement regulations and
encourage responsible use and initiating self-discipline.
So, in what way can we actually ensure for technology to be used
effectively in education? Well, the simple and most effective way for it is to
give education about technology itself - its benefits, limitations, and
purposes. Educational institutions should also implement clear and precise
guidelines that encourage learning, not shortcuts. Moreover, we need an
environment where we foster and encourage students to understand that
technology is a tool for support and not as a replacement for their talent and
skills. Originality comes from each and one of us, something technology
can’t fully provide for us.
To sum it all up, technology holds a big potential to shape our
educational standards as a tool with thoughtful integration. We should be
aware that the technology is not an all-for-use tool that we can use. In the
field of education, technology can be used for new and advance way of
teaching. Both educators and students must adapt with the changes. Let us
remember that technology is an innovation to be used for everyone’s greater
good. And with this, I am leaving you a quote to remember, “Technology
alone isn’t going to improve student achievement. The best combination is
great teachers working with technology to engage students in the pursuit of
the learning they need.” I am wishing you a pleasant morning, thank you.
